[Body_Work] Rust Rust And More Rust!

In other news the weird clunking I have had in the vicinity of the passenger footwell seems to have stopped. I suspect a loose bolt/nut/tool from the build. It's either wedged somewhere or has exited the vehicle!

I definitely didn't hear any clunking earlier today and you put it through its paces so it would have clunked then for sure if there was anything wrong, especially on that washboard road near mine, it felt very tight on that.

It drives like an new old car, everything is tight, no odd noises or sloppy worn mechanical feeling! It's horribly noisy but I got used to that fairly quickly.

I'm still fettling the last few bits. Yesterday I fixed the fuel guage plug so I now have a contents indication. Also got the rear wipe working and figured out why my driving lights didn't work( relay in the wrong space). It's amazing how many little jobs are still there even though it's been running now for about a month.

These include:

Fix the bonnet stay- I snapped the bolt fitting it.

Fit the rear interior plastics- I just can't face taking the 1/4 seals out again right now!

Source a trim strip for the rear of the headliner

Find a new digital clock

Buy new wheel bolts . Mine are stretched and have seen better days

Source new caps for the wiper arms.

For the rear washer bottle

Fit new bulbs in the instrument console

Fit the door pulls if I ever find the right plastic inserts for the screws!

On going and never finished, it's even getting dirty underneath now so has lost that showroom finish lol

It actually looses time. As they are quartz it boggles me that it does ! I've resoldered everything but it still does it

It's anthracite. I had it colour matched to a new rear boot panel that I bought from the Peugeot museum

Which paint did you use Paul?

Maybe that explains it, the clock isn't losing time, Paul's gained it back and not realised yet

I actually don't know what paint they used. A plastic paint! The colour they matched it to in the end was actually cosworth grey apparently

Bummer

Goes without saying that you need to establish why the latch and safety catch didn’t work.

i think sometimes folk set the latch too tightly. I’ve always worked on the theory that the bonnet dropped from 6 to 12 inches from closed should latch itself. If it doesn’t, it’s set too tight.
