Been thinking lately about fitting a white led bulb in there, bit of extra light! Can't find one to replace the original bulb though

yeh i already read that. hes obviously used the 106 one or what ever it was. I pulled a 2000 206 one and its smaller in length that the 205. Or does craigs car use a shorter one because its younger?

EDIT

or ive just found this

So today I fitted some new rear speakers, fronts are due to arrive tomorow.

Sprayed my sunroof bolts as requested today :)

When I was at it I whipped off the rear window captive nuts and did those too, nice and tidy now.

Nicely done that man -you are one step ahead of me now - I was going to do the rear window nuts next. OK - you are two steps ahead of me I haven't done my sunroof side rails; but mine didn't need them doing yet...

Damn it Looks good in Steel Grey though....

Haha thanks mate, people keep telling me how nice Steel Grey is but it's not my fave! It has grown on me though but I do love red and miami blues and whites....

No one ever likes the colour they have! I've always wanted a laser or a steel grey but so far i've ended up with a silver one, a red one and now a bright orange one.......Silver and red being my two least favourite colours, trouble is that colour isn't near the top of my list of priorities.

Regardless, it is looking great, colouring the rear window nuts makes a big difference, but if you wanted new ones rather than the colouring then Berlingo/Partner ones (all ages) do the same job and are usually in stock at dealers. They are completely rubber coated rather than having the seperate rubber washer too.

Also, i didn't realise the boot light switch was so cheap and available, might have to get me one of those to save on hitting the bootlid every time to get the ball bearing to move.

Thanks mate :) A grey one was better than no GTi at all - at the time it was the only decent one I could find :). Bootlight switch was a cheap and easy fix - the dealer on the link I posted up will be scratching his head as to why he's suddenly sold a few haha.

Fitted a new aftermarket boot seal from farmer today. Pretty close to the original abd a good tight seal, from what I can tell so far. Not rained yet though!

IMAG2227.jpg

Old vs new (new is fitted to car)

IMAG2228.jpg

The little drain holes on the seal that face outwards are on the skinny bit on aftermarket and on the thicker bit on genuine. Shouldnt matter though I don't think as long as its a good tight seal. The boot certainly feels better and was harder to shut.

Had a bit of rain last night and boot seal seems to be fine, no sign of any water. Waiting for a proper heavy downpour for a proper test!

Fitted new Apline front speakers last night, a set of Alpine SPG-13C2's.

Combined with the new set of Alpines in the rear it's sounding pretty good for a basic setup, even with the original Clarion :) Vast improvement on the crappy speakers that were in there to begin with, anyway.

I imagine (hope) you still hide these behind the front speaker grilles? If so they obviously fit...?

Yep, both front and rear fitted perfectly behind the original grills etc. The rears are a slightly smaller depth speaker so were spot on.

Fitted a new aftermarket black rear panel this evening, which I got from farmer as all uk stock elsewhere of the panels is defective. Old panel off, revealing 23 years of grime!

Brand new inlet seal around lock

Bit of silicone to make absolutely sure no leaks

All done!

If you're using silicone as a sealant, make sure it is an automotive sealant rather than just a generic black silicone, these contain acid and will attack the paint work, in time causing rust issues.

For a different reason you shouldn't put any kind of silicon anywhere near a car.

The slightest minute bit put on a car panel by accident on your hands etc causes "fish eyes" on future paint jobs.

yeah its a clear automotive sealant, the black around the lock is the inlet seal

Fitted new window scrapers today. Amazing how mich the originals shrink. Drivers side is NLA but passenger side is still available. I bought two new passenger side ones as I figured I could modify the passenger side one to fit the drivers side. Easy to, just trimmed the end nearest the door handle a bit!

What's the condition of mirror blanks inside, not many have pins left.

Been a discussion I have had with quite a few members this week.
