See how you get on, but with a helmet on I think you'll find the top of it is on the roof lining.

My cage builder has welded mines on the same height... im 2meters.. had to put the seat on the lowers mounting point to fit with helmet..

i dont have time to fix it now.. i'll do it in the winter but i would advice you to lower is..

I have no roof lining :(

I'll be going down there tomorrow and see how I get on.

Initially when I propped the seat up in position (roughly), it seemed ok.

Its got sliders on the rails and I have already lowered the seat mount on my side by about an inch+.

a 205 roof lining isn't very thick so it wont add much, with a helmet you'll be knocking the bar at the top of the door as you look sideways.

depends how long your legs are and how upright you sit too though.

I'm not far off your height Paul, and with a lid on I could touch the roofline cage bar quite easily on a Sparco Evo seat mounted onto the standard points.

I've just had my seat mounts lowered by cutting into the exhaust tunnel. Now my arse is about 2" off the floor and feels much better.

Had a bit of a look at the rails today, i've headed everyones advice about lowering the mounts.

I shifted the rail forward about 4" it seemed ok with the seat far back, but no chance of welding a bar for the rear rail inplace.

Plan is to chop the angle iron off the end of the rail and drop the rail by an inch, like so

Going out for a ride in kyepans MI hopefullly tomorrow  Not the hairdressers mobile

I dropped the front rail an inch so the middle of the bar is resting on the exhaust tunnel pretty much and welded in the rear rail for the drivers side.

Haven't got round to the passenger rear rail of yet, as I didnt have time and was gradually building up a strong suntan.

You'll find that to drop it low, the exhaust tunnel gets in the way pushing the seat out of alignment with the steering wheel.

Solution is to cut into the tunnel and weld new mounts in.

Cheers for the advice Alan, we centralised the seat in front of the wheel and it just fitted down the side of the exhaust tunnel.

Seats in a nice position now

Took it for a test drive earlier... it's BL@@DY QUICK!

Due to me being a dumb blonde, I realised that my 205 still had MOT till October and did not run out with the 6 months tax :)

If I had of known this I would of had it on the road weeeeeekkks ago.

It's on road now, already p!ssed off an M3 driver B)

Bit of a whirring and grinding noise, I think the whirring is the GB on the way out (done over 150,000!)

and the grinding I believe is the clutch bedding in.

I cant move this sh!t eatting grin off my face it's starting to hurt :D

Yep i've checked all the plugs behind the dash, check/moved the earth and had a quick look for the diode, but gave up.

I think the clutch pedal needs adjusting, it grips and all but makes a noise when I accelerate.

When I put the clutch down it stopped.

Its a new clutch I have in it.

Still cant believe how quick it is without flooring it :)

could be the gearbox if it's quiet when you put the clutch in :)

there are 6 diodes on the loom B) if it's running, take an hours drive down here and i'll fix it :D

6 sounds daunting, its far easier when you break it down though, one to earth, one from each pickup (i.e 4 coils), and one to the rev counter, easy :)

no need to bribe me with beer tokens dude...lol

but easier to drive down then whip the loom off to send down :)

Could to hear it's on the road, I'll keep my out for you - mine is also back on the road now and I've been running it in a bit the past couple of weeks, taking it into to get the mapping checked on Monday so should be able to give it a blast after that - cover your ears over there :)

Finally got the car on the road today, had a drive around to bed everything in.

Met up with my mate in his 205 and got a few pics

A GT40 with 750BHP sounded like a animal <_<

On a worse note, the head gasket has gone

I suspected it when I first started the engine as there was loads of smoke pouring out the exhaust, but put it down to oil etc. in the exhaust burning off.

I was sat at the lights earlier and the idle dropped quite low and felt like it was running on three cylinders.

LOADS of smoke billowing out, then struggled to pull away then jumped(ish) to life higher up the rev range.

Would explain the water pressuring quickly and the loss of it earlier today.

I am going to pick up a head next weekend and already have a rebuild kit which I was planning to use on my 88mm crank conversion.

Going to change the stem seals on the new head.

My question is: if the head has come off a healthy engine, will I need to skim the head?

Very peed off at the moment!...

i had a HG go on my cossie, at 155mph

but the temp NEVER went over normal,

i even drove 4 hrs home,

as long as the temp never went mental, the head "should" be ok

AND it is removed corectky,

if it has got hot, or removed wrong it will need attention

bad news though <_<

It sounds like a sewing machine at the moment, I bought it off a member on the 306gti6 forum.

Sounds like a few of the valves are bent from reading a few topics on here.

I drove it home slowly and the temperature went into the red as I got home.

Think it would be best to replace the head altogether.

Hope that speed was on a track Spiky
