I'm taking my time doing it this time and have got a mate's garage to do the work in.

I'm pretty confident ive had all the problems with this engine so far apart; from a snapped belt and melted pistons so should get it right first time :) Or have the melted pistons to look forward to

Obviously do a good couple of thousand miles before considering a charger.

th_IMAG0058.jpg

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really really really pissed off, I think this could of been damaged a while back in my shed, or Ryan's garage as it's changed hands a few times. Hard to pin point as it's been lying about for years. My step dad could of thrown something in the shed ages ago in a tantrum (because of my pug bits taking over ) and it's gone unnoticed til now.

Again another mistake i've learnt my lesson from, always double and triple check condition of parts. I've got another block in the pipeline I believe which i'll be picking up Friday. Fingers crossed.

Oh that's a sh**ter - I didn't realise that you'd built the whole bottom end up before you discovered that! :o

Yeap!

It's too close to the water jacket to weld a repair section in and plus I wouldn't want to anyway, as it would be playing on my mind too much. <_<

My mate dropped some of the main end shells when we were taking them out, so I need to go buy a new set. My fist hurts from where it made contact with the wall

Thats right Paul, keep thinking positive about it all even if your fist really hurts a bit.

At least you can corner better than a 205 V6 mate, non of that extra long front end weight, speed is all fine but on our British roads/traffic pile ups its all about the corners, it is for me anyways

Good luck Paul, it will be worth it in the end.

Sorting out the bay rust, wire brush wheel and kurust ftw! Luckily no holes just surface rust, front panels in one piece! :)

th_IMAG0076.jpg

This area looked quite bad but it's come up well. Dug out the sealant in the corner to make sure it was ok and it was :)

Gave the discs I got off Anthony a clean as they were sat outside in the rain for too long. Came up well.

th_IMAG0074.jpg

Rusty battery tray unrusted :)

th_IMAG0075.jpg

And this thing living in the shed getting high off the paint fumes. Lovely colours

th_IMAG0073.jpg

That is all. Picking up new block tomorrow night and take 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7!

It was mate, to be honest I've left it for the meanwhile. Was thinking of getting some thinners/petrol letting it soak, then blasting it with the jet washer.

But will probably mean painting it again

I would not like to use the dishes after the dishwasher has washed the inlet tbh, unless you get one of those dish washer cleaners.

I have 0.10 endfloat one way and 0.15 the other, that enough? Bit late to be asking

Tom Fenton

How can you have different end floats each way? End float is how much clearance there is. Lever the crank hard over one way, then measure the clearance.

Thats what i've done and got different measurements on either side :P

Might be the engine lube stopping it from shifting over fully.

Either you are not measuring it properly, or there is an issue with the thrust face on the crank, tapered etc
