Just got back home from another 600 mile road trip to Scotland this weekend. Again, drove faultlessly and the usual M6 toll drag race was fun.

Cambelt change and MOT'd today on the F reg car. Gave it another wash after, then took it on a 66 mile drive this evening on deserted roads. Also repaired the front bumper of my mother's Yaris that I'd 'borrowed' for a Targa rally yesterday.

Yet more scrubbing and scraping for me. What a horrendously tedious job. However luckily the nasty black tar underseal has left the Peugeot underseal in good order so I am going to overcoat it rather than scrape it all off.

Luckily the end is in sight and I will be glad once the underside is painted and I can move on to the mechanical parts, fuel and brake lines etc.

The hard part is knowing where to stop. What started out as a rear panel replacement then included a new beam build. Then included fuel tank out and new fuel pipes. Then clean all the floor back and repaint. Then where do you stop as really the front subframe needs to come out etc etc.

I have decided to do the back and floors this year, then another winter project will be to pull the engine and box to do the bulkhead and front end, and smarten up the engine and box.

I did a stud conversion on the lower bolt holes for the gear box mount, soooo much easier to get a nut onto a thread with 1.5 fingers than trying to start a bolt in a hole that doesnt line up with the thread :P

What do you need to do?

The essential list is quite small. Hold on

To comply with rules I need to add a rain light and fire extinguisher to the car and buy race boots and sticker pack.

Beyond that there are some bits I feel are essential although only advisory like kill switch in scuttle panel and I want to change to my longer gearing and do another trackday at cadwell to familiarise myself and alter what gear I use on the new gearing.

I then have a none essential list like fibreglass panels which I managed to sort secondhand, syvecs ecu and map it, remove sunroof and any weight I can do without and fit a bias valve for wet as the rear locks up in the wet and beyond that a new set of tyres rather than the old secondhand ones I have been using.

Used a quality filler on it. I have always used budget filler for bodywork in the past, what a mistake that's been! It's immeasurably easier with half decent stuff.

Rolled her out the garage for a wash, took her for a spin for some fuel, got a compliment from a bloke on a motorbike, ragged her home and rolled her back in the garage again :D

Fitted a different grille (one without lacquer peel). Washed and polished the R/H side and front of the car. Fitted refurbished quarter panel badges to R/H side.

Got a compliment off the estate agent who was at the house next door. He then went on to tell me close to 20 times how he'd driven both a 1.6 and a 1.9 in the past. He then asked why I needed so many.

Ordered 4 Toyo Proxes from 'Black Circles' for delivery on Tuesday .

Put a 2nd coat of paint on the floorpan of the Miami .

Drove up to the Peugeot dealers in Harlow on Saturday to order some nuts and washers etc for my beam rebuild and came out to find 7 or 8 of the staff standing round my Goodwood talking about how you ' don't see any 309,s anymore'

Need to decide if the Toyos are going on the current alloys or if I should have one of my knackered spare sets of Speedlines refurbed to Goodwood spec .

Drove to ace cafe, sounded fab, probably killed a hundred kittens with the amount of induction hammer.. Was the only 205 there... Sad face. Went home at sub bwarp speed due to many traffic. Deathstar armed and fully operational

Couldn't make the Ace café this month , finished painting the kitchen at 9 pm .!

Toyos arrived , looking forward to getting them fitted on Saturday .

PS , Demon Tweeks , JJC and Ears are all cheaper for these tyres on Ebay , should have done my homework .
