What Have You Done To Your 205 Today?

Recommended Posts

Tom Fenton

Looking lovely Tom, are they all the correct OE colours do you know for all the brackets, arms, bars etc?

Brackets etc are plated yellow zinc finish, this is original as far as I know, often if you dismantle a beam that hasn't been disturbed before you can find the yellow zinc underneath washers etc where it hasn't corroded.

Tube I had paint mixed to match an original tube as best I could. I think it looks good. Torsion bars originally were a matt orangey colour but having them powdercoated red was an easier option. If one day I get keen it can always get some paint mixed and do another pair for it. Trailing arms I think originally they were bare? But black looks smart in my opinion.

Looks great, I remember having all the beam parts powder coated then dropping the beam and chipping it....butter fingers..

Engine dynoed my 2.3 16 v XU. 278hp @ 7500rpm and 208 ftlb at 5500. Ran into problems with the head gasket passing so stopped until problems rectified. Happy days.

Fitted some new front speakers as the foam on the surround was no more. Sounds surprisingly good considering it's got the standard head unit in.

My car is now officially modified and non-standard (sort of, aarrggghhhh!). I'm going to stick a little bit of Dynamat in the doors next.

I fixed the bust stitching on my drivers seat and reassembled it. It looks good.

Going to give the leather some attention when I get the chance.

Bought some tax.

Could you not have waited a few days? I detest taxing a car past the middle of a month

You can buy tax 3 days from the end of the month to start the next month

I wasn't aware of that. If I was to go in to a Post Office today though, would they give me a disc of 6 months tax taking me to the end of November, therefore allowing me to drive the car for the next few days, effectively free as I am a few days early?

Or is that online where it would show as untaxed now until the 1st when it would 'kick in' so to speak?

I'd imagine that although you are displaying a tax disc with a valid end date, you would be shown on ANPR as not having tax until the 1st.

No you wouldnt be allowed to drive legally for the 3 days, unless of course it was already taxed and due to expire.

I've not bought tax from a post office for years!

Just renewing my disc btw.

Took the Goodwood for a drive over to Walthamstow this morning to pick up a box of assorted Pug parts I had taken for plating . Spent half an hour untangling them from the wire they were suspended on .

Hope to get my Miami beam back together today now I have all the bits .

yesterday i ordered a set of pro race 1.2 alloys for my track tyres.

today i have fitted new handbrake cables and a new rear wheel bearing. for the first time in about 5 years i have got a working handbrake on my pug!

went to remove the passenger drive shaft to replace the leaking seal and saw that the drivers side shaft had split a boot and chucked the grease out. so that job is on hold until i get a new shaft on monday. typical, fix one thing and another thing breaks.

Not a 205, but a recently purchased Saxo kitcar I'm servicing for, fixed the rev counter which was twisted and taped, not even scotchblocked!

Painted my new black tailgate panel grey using that special Peugeot paint. It came out really well, that paint it so easy to use.
