  3. Hi all. I was recently hit with some massively bad news. Earlier in the year I passed on my beloved 205 GR to my brother-in-law. He was after a small cheap runaround and seeing as I had bought myself a diesel for commuting I decided to give him the pug. Info: 205 GR 5 door 1.4ltr 197+k miles!!! Nicknamed "Leroy" (for no real reason) my wife and I have had some great times and trips with him over the years so I was devastated to hear that while my bro-in-law and his family were at church on sunday, some kids (literally not even teenagers) decided to throw a lit newspaper under the fuel tank. Pictures speak for themselves really but I think I can save him. I've managed to get him home on a trailer and I'm going to strip the back end down and clean him up to see what the damage really is. I think we were lucky that the fire service got there so quickly. So basically this is an appeal for bits and bobs to sort him out (on a very tight budget). I've managed to source: Boot lid rear seat drivers door rear valance I still require: Fuel tank (non injection) fuel filler neck Rear drivers side door head lining (non sunroof) I'm trying to do the bare minimum to make him roadworthy again as I can't let him go to the scrappy. He'll drive through forests, fields, snow, sand, just NOT fire apparently. Been one of the best cars I've ever owned and I can't see him die so close to reaching the moon! Cheers guys.

  5. Hello, My local auto parts shop have given me this and says it the only one that came back for a 205 Ive tried to fit it but doesn't fit, when i first saw it i didn't think it was the correct one. This is the part i was supplied. I know it needs to be square but this surely cant be the right one? Is that correct? if not can someone supply me the correct fitment in a picture? so i can pass it onto the suppliers so they can come back with the correct one as its taken them 2 weeks to get this.
  6. I bought a set of Gaz Gold coilovers about three years ago and have only just gotten around to getting ready to fit them but I've hit a bit of a snag. I didn't get adjustable top mounts at the time, and have a vague memory of reading they could be used with standard Pug top mounts. Is this correct? If so, I can't for the life of me figure out how it all goes together. I assumed I could just swap the standard spring top keeper plate for the blue Gaz thing, but it looks wrong and the thread for the top nut would be too short. Does the blue bit just go straight under the standard cup thing under the rubber with the roller bearing removed or just straight under the rubber or something? Thanks.
  7. Ok all. What I was thinking is I have a 309 4 door f reg 1.9 gti 47000 mil and have the runing gear of it and put on my 205.Have had a look for info but no joy lots of end of jobs but no start to finish. If anyone can give me the time will be a great help thanks
  8. Hi I've got a curious starting problem with my 205. I am very much an amateur so please help! I have tried searching the forum but nothing I have found has yet worked. I drove my 205 into the garage in Jan this year, it worked perfectly then. Now 2 months has gone by and it won't start. It turns over fine, and the battery is fully charged. I replaced the spark plugs with brand new ones and checked and there is definitely a spark. However the spark plugs are dry so there is some fuel problem. I took the input fuel line off the fuel rail and the petrol pump is definitely pumping petrol through. I put a voltmeter to the injectors and they appear to have something flow through on starting. Curiously my petrol gauge doesn't come on like it normally does on the second click... My car is a 1991 205 Gti 1.9. It has the multi-point injection system without the lambda sensor, before cats. Any ideas/links I've missed? Cheers, Rich.
