  1. Hi everybody – long time lurker here, first post! I'm from Argentina and recently got a 205, a pretty well kept XS from 1992. It has 230k on the odometer which is quite a bit but the car is mechanically and aesthethically sound. I recently installed XS vinyls (here in argentina it came without any decals), Hella lights and some mudflaps for extra rally flair. I did some basic maintenance, changed cambelt, including water pump, oil and oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and clutch cable as the clutch was super stiff. It's smooth now. Here are a couple of pictures of the car: It's all been pretty smooth sailing so far, I've driven around 1000km in the last couple weeks with the car. However, there is something that bothers me: The RPM needle shakes like crazy. It is like a micro-shaking thing, it still displays the correct RPMs, but instead of holding steady it moves just a few mm to each side very fast. I do not thing this is an engine problem as the engine seems to rev just fine. Anyways, the visual part is not so bothersome as the sound is...it makes this mosquito-like stutter sound that is really loud inside the car. So even though it seems to be harmless, it is very annoying and I would like to fix it. I've done some research in the forums and found some people with a similar problem BUT with the speed needle which apparently goes away with a new speedo cable. But the tach doesn't work the same way (it's electronic, right?) so I'm kind of lost as to how to go about fixing it. Without looking at it in depth, a mechanic friend said that the problem is probably the needle or the mechanism in the cluster itself and I should change the instrument cluster but I would like to avoid it if possible as sourcing a good one could prove difficult here. Do you guys have any ideas what could be causing it and if I may be able to repair it? Thanks!
  2. At first I thought it was a fuel filter but from what I can see it has a open bottom that full of foam

  5. So I need to replace the right, aka european passenger, aka long shaft in my 1.4 TU 309. Found a guy willing to sell a pair, pics below. But how can I be sure it's the correct part? Any way to identify if it's for a 1.4 engine, is it interchangeable with other motors? If anyone knows, would be appreciated.
  6. Hi all. I was recently hit with some massively bad news. Earlier in the year I passed on my beloved 205 GR to my brother-in-law. He was after a small cheap runaround and seeing as I had bought myself a diesel for commuting I decided to give him the pug. Info: 205 GR 5 door 1.4ltr 197+k miles!!! Nicknamed "Leroy" (for no real reason) my wife and I have had some great times and trips with him over the years so I was devastated to hear that while my bro-in-law and his family were at church on sunday, some kids (literally not even teenagers) decided to throw a lit newspaper under the fuel tank. Pictures speak for themselves really but I think I can save him. I've managed to get him home on a trailer and I'm going to strip the back end down and clean him up to see what the damage really is. I think we were lucky that the fire service got there so quickly. So basically this is an appeal for bits and bobs to sort him out (on a very tight budget). I've managed to source: Boot lid rear seat drivers door rear valance I still require: Fuel tank (non injection) fuel filler neck Rear drivers side door head lining (non sunroof) I'm trying to do the bare minimum to make him roadworthy again as I can't let him go to the scrappy. He'll drive through forests, fields, snow, sand, just NOT fire apparently. Been one of the best cars I've ever owned and I can't see him die so close to reaching the moon! Cheers guys.

    Paddle Clutch?

Could someone please help me out with picking out a clutch for my 1360cc rallye (205 XS engine, MA box). I'm using the car for Motorsport (Targa/Endurance Rally) so was thinking a paddle clutch, don't really want to spend any more than £300ish? Is there any vendors to avoid or are they all practically the same? cheers ~matt
