hmm only 3kg lighter than my standard battery but smaller which is good. Not sure but I think as its a gel one, I may be able to get away without a battery box if mounted inside the car for sprints/hillclimbs saving some money. Wont get one at that price though! How did you get yours for £35 :D

well after taking it for a driver after fitting the new oil pressure switch,

it confirmed i had major oil surge issues :(

the sump was battered and push up and it was previously fitted without it's spacers

so i bought a agti-6 sump which is std with a gate  (cheers discostu) B)

but then i found i didn't have the extra 2 long bolts nor did the oil temp sensor transfer over to the news sump :( :wall: but again thanks to discostu B)B)

fitted the sump and no leaks :P , well yet :)

so here are the last pics before it get trashed tomorrow :P:P:P

get yourself a think auto early warning oil pressure switch. the OE light just tells you if the engine is already nackered, rather than if your oil pressure is low

well it survived it's first track day

tyres are superb, and brake are fantastic,

power level is crap just wont rev over 4000, well does but slowly :(:(

so GTI-6 engine in 2-3 months B)

issues of the day comprised of coming out of a corner to find my throttle stuck open at full chat , but was just a pipe blocking the throttle ;):o

then after two sessions while waiting for lunch break, opened the header tank to find and horrible states of affairs

so in the afternoon i did about 50 laps taking out as many passengers as possible

car was great, and drove home :o

just dumped the water and it just turns out be a big manky old waters and rusty, so will flush the whole system :D

AWESOME is all i can say, gave it abuse ALL day and it drove home

glad it went well.

you should get into the habit of doing more pro-active maintenance. Thinks like oil chganges, coolant changes, brake fluid changes etc should be done/checked before each event. The more pro-active you are the less chance you will have issue son a track. The last thing you want is to go home early etc.

Got any vids then ?

cheers

sean

as long as you have a licence

you'll need a helmet, open or closed face it dont matter

you dont need rollcage buckets or harnesses, but depends on how you drive...... lol

check and fix any oil/water leaks

make sure brakes pads have loads of life, same as tyres

check suspension of leaks or weak parts
