Only real major jobs now are engine and loom! :o

Then the 'glass', radiator, lights, exhaust, seats, harnesses, bonnet, intercooler.......need I go on?

Not out of the woods yet James.

Brilliant stuff. Keep grafting.

Just read through this!! crazy!!, puts my standad mi to shame, out of interest, how do you go about insuring this and what sort of cost? i'm sure there are people that would try and do something to their cars i.e turboing etc but how do you work a rough cost of the parts, time effort etc? i'd like to get more power out of my mi but would think it would cost a bit of money? if i could lose the mortgage, bills etc each month i could have a go!!

At the moment the car is insured just as a layup policy to stop people stealing it or it setting the workshop alight, its all tied in to my teams public liability insurance so im not really sure of the actual cost atm. As far as road insurance we have been offered part-sponsorship (details exclusive until completion) of 900 pound a year to cover road use "eurotrip", which is very good as I have 6 points and a ban, also the car has an agreed value of 38000 which may seem excessive but once you've bought all the parts and factored in labour, thats how much it would cost to even come close to replacing :(

This conversion from start to finish with the 2 engine builds has probably cost me around 10,000. 7,000 of that has been in the last 4 months. we have worked out that its taken a fully qualified engineer (me) and my nav simon (apprentice :P ) 3 weeks solid to build this car. Most of the cost has been the cage, forged internals and all the little bit like coil packs!!! you can build a good turbo car on a budget. for instance my turbo manifold cost me 100 pounds in materials and about a days work! all really depends on you tooling and ability.

As you can guess i don't have a mortgage as the 'wife to be' is away at uni, so im saving for a deposit on a house and blowing the rest on large turbochargers :) the joys of been 20 hey!

Pete you need to get your arse up here its about time we met up, im sure we can get a little more from your engine :D.

We have had her running but unfortunately we didnt make it to our Marham track day! a fuel rail leak kill us, and i didnt want to take the risk!! So i've now got here back home safe, for 2 weeks im going to have a break. We will be getting her ready for the MOT and finishing a few bits off! ill post some videos once ive swapped the cams over as i was a little to stressed to film while running her in!! :)

A few pictures while shes home!

me after 45 mins sleep in 48 hours!!

dude this sounds like a plan, when can you fit me in? i wanna take it to pugfest on july 4th so anytime before then would be sweet.

its still running pretty rough at the mo but havent really had a good enough road test on it yet to get any decent logs.

which is very good as I have 6 points and a ban

how do you even manage to get insured with that history! I barely afford to insure my car with a few mods and my licence is clean

fantastic work on the car though your engineering skills far exceed these cars, i'm surprised you haven't ditched the peugeot and just built your own sports car tbh

This break is killing me, I want to get back on with the car!!!

Will someone please take this eaton superchager off my hands!!! Its trying to wedge its self down underneath the throttle bodies with a small charge cooler nested in front of the turbos!! I keep telling my self its a bad idea.

Just got her insured 1100 pounds comp :) conversation went.......any modifications sir.........well do you send assessors out? B) policy doesn't start till im 21 in just over a month!

Im thinking of junking the throttle bodies, not because they are not working just to make some more space! The radiator is going to have to go in the boot! Unfortunately when I took her down a private road, today to test if the secondary injectors where working properly we tore the front of the engine mount off the chassis leg. Time for a rethink!

Ill post some videos soon, once I've got her fettled its an a mass of wiring and vacuum hoses.

On overrun I'm getting a 4 foot flame out the exaust, I need some advice Im using the excess fuel on over run to cool the exaust valve theoretically, is it worth cutting the fuelling a little bit more??

Thanks

James

I don't know guys its crying out for it, I can fit it in it want to go in there!! its only a little m45.....there is no really power from idle to 3500 because of the 8.5 to 1 compression. i can get it better with mapping but it could do with a little helping hand, I don't want to run anti lag, as you cant get sintered shafts for the GT42r.

The squirt is great mate running nice, went in great thanks for that!!

So we've had turbo charging, supercharging, and compound charging, and now we have overcharging :)

surely the point of the twin turbos was to get power lower down with a smaller turbo???

Or would it be worse without?
