i dont care if your moter makes 200 or 2000000 bhp.i enjoy reading your thread [even through a lot off it is well over my head]

i admire they way you keep getting on with it and improving and getting round proplems and your craftmanship.

you are doing things that most of us havnt got the skills, resources or cash to do and can only dream about and iam sure that other people will pick up ideas, tips and insperation from this.

so keep at it

Started off originally at 8.7:1 but now around 9.3:1 compression ratio to improve off boost response, mainly achieved with decking. ideally I would have preferred to have custom pistons but these were not feasible when we originally built the engines. I had plans to high 10:1 but we couldn't make this work with the fuels we wanted to run.

IMO megasquirt is one of the best offerings on the market. Cameron is right megasquirts rep has been ruined by cheapsakes. I use megasquirt because its opensource souftware & hardware that allows me to jump in and do what I need to do. I'm currently adding some new features to my ECU i'll post these shortly.

What fuels did you want to use? We used to run my old boss' car at 10.5:1 CR and with 3 bar boost. That was on Carless that was about £2.50 a litre, so dirt cheap for a good race fuel - or were you just trying to stick to V-Power or something?

Essentially yes with some additives. We have used avgas & E85 cost is the major player though. I have learnt enough now that we could make a "high compression" engine when/if we have to replace pistons we will be aiming for around 11:1. Fuel control and cold intake charge is the key IMO hence why VWs engine is so successful @ 11.1 but they use direct injection. Unfortunately there isn't enough space in the head to convert to direct injection :(

Christ, done pretty well if you made it to 1100bhp on pump fuel, even with additives. What boost was that on? (sorry if I've missed that earlier in the thread).

Direct injection has its downsides too. Sooooo many TFSIs (and others) have the old sludge buildup as there's no fuel to wash it away.

Saying that though, they are quick. A local guy here in Sydney (who works on my S3) recently done a 12.06 @ 114 on a K04 TFSI with bolt ons and a map. Quick is an understatement. Epic.

Many of the 1.8T guys are running 9.5:1 with the 2.0 crank with good results.

Ok well we have made some progress, I have started to rebuild the front of the car to allow the whole front end to be removed with a few bolts. Also moving the engine back and getting it lower in the car.

This picture showing the original gearbox position with some of the new steel work

I have used a modified sump spacer to make a dry sump pan the is incredibly low profile. It sits nice and close to the crank and still allows room for our crank scraper

Engine and gearbox fitted up and mounted.

A few more tubes to be added still and I still have to fabricate the gearbox mount. Everything will be fitted to this frame everything from intercoolers to exhaust.

Thanks

exacly the same as before we are just compounding the boost with the supercharger to see if we can get a little more area under the graph.

We are running a bypass valve on the smaller turbo as it proved to be a flow restriction around 6500rpm+

Thanks

LDV Pilot gearbox with the xud engine fitted. The gearbox is an R380 used quite a bit in the 4x4 world. The box weighs about the same as a complete be box, so a little heavier as it doesn't have the diff integral but we will see how we get on.

Thanks

Tunnel wider on the drivers side to accommodate the exhaust. Painting as I go, I want a black interior as orange was just to bright :)
