    Cti Window Jamming.

Hi, Today's teaser is - The windows on my CTi get stuck half way up or down - varies. I took apart the mechanism today and there is very little support apart from the window seal guides. The mechanism for lifting only attaches on the slot on the bottom of the window, but there is another holed bracket further along the window. See picture. Should there be another bracket to help push the window up square? Does anyone have a Peugeot drawing of the door assembly?
  2. I've been looking into fitting electric windows into my 1.6 which didn't have them originally and from all the old topics it looked straight forward but I'm having a bit of a mare with the wiring. I have a 1992 1.6 but it has the older style tube between the door and the car for the wiring not the 306-style plug you would expect on a later car. There also isn't any cabling for leccy windows in the door already unfortunatly. I bought a set of door wiring looms, but I can't for the life of me work out where they plug in the cabin. On the driver’s side, I found the brown 4-pin plug OK which matches the loom I have. However I also have a 2 pin white plug (with 3 cables going in) and a 5-pin yellow (all earths) but nowhere under the dash to plug these. The plug which comes from the door at the moment is a chuncky black 2 row plug with a latch. On the passenger side, I have found where by existing door loom connects but this is a 4-pin brown plug and the new electric window wiring has a 5-pin white plug. Do I have the wrong looms or does my car just have weird wiring? I'm leaning towards just wiring the electric Windows up myself using the Haynes diagrams and leaving all the existing wiring alone as it looks like it only connects to one pin on the fuse box so pretty simple to hook up. Any help much appreciated. I can snap some pics if it helps but I'm pretty stumped!

    The Future Of Fuel

Hey all, Just been reading a couple of articles about the proposed new Jaguar F-Type and the DeLorean DMC-EV and this got the grey matter thinking about 'what does the future hold'? Obviouisly there's been a lot about at the minute with the proposed tanker drivers strike and although the strike has nothing to do with finding alternative fuels I'm wondering what people here think about the fuel of the future? I'm on the fence with this one in that I can't see electric only taking over as I wouldn't be happy knowing that I have re-charge my car for x amount of time if I want to go a long way but I'm not sure what the alternatives are. I do remember James May visiting Honda to look at their Hydrogen fuel cell car and thinking 'that looks good'. IIRC James summed it up by saying something along the lines of 'if hydrogen becomes widely available at the pumps then hydrogen fuel cell means that the culture change required with going all electric is taken away as we'll still be able to drive, fill up (with hydrogen) and drive some more - as we do at the moment'. However, am I right in thinking that to roll hydrogen out would be expensive and it takes a lot of effort to produce/gather and therefore it doesn't really stack up as a long-term alternative? I thought this might be an interesting one to discuss, I'm not sure if anyone has experiemetned with alternative fuels in their 205 or even produced an electric 205??? I guess the other question is 'what do we do if/when petrol becomes a rare commodity'? Ian.
