Recommended Posts

GTI6BOY

There's no guide for the 205 no. Only the 106.

I tried to copy the position from photos and now gonna have to have the hole welded up

That's a bit of a s*iter. I can't think of an accurate way of doing it.

Should be pretty straightforward, measure the height of both points, draw a line between them, measure back from the front point to the bulkhead along the line drawn, then to the floor, thats the height to make your hole.

The height was perfect just sideways by about 20mm

Well my car might be lower or higher than yours so best to do your own measurements

Surely there has to be a common point that can be measure from?? Like measuring down rather than up??

not really, given the floor is not flat, however once one person has measured succesfully and posted their measurement from the hole down to say the subframe, or the bulkhead seam, then it'll become much easier for any future purchasers :)

Well to save all that faff you would think a stick on template would not be rocket science !

That's what I was trying to say. But my lack of wording at the time didn't allow me to.

I meant could it not be measured up to the seam, rather than measuring down to the ground and therefore avoiding the "my car's not as low" issue.

(gets coat and remembers how to speak whilst sitting in the rain in the corner!!)

Can you not just measure roughly (well, as accurately as poss) Drill a small hole to pass a piece of string through, and eye the string up to see if its straight, and adjust small pilot hole until in correct place. Then just use an appropriate size hole saw to drill correct size and place.

A set measurement from the subframe would be best imo for good accurate placing of the hole to fit these.

Or just supply a set of the right instructions and templates as you would expect with an item at that price!

I did phone and ask but was told there were no measurements or template so I tried to copy the photo of the one fitted to the yellow 205

I was quite sure my hole was being drilled in the right place

Defo needs someone to have a paper template made

the 106/saxo Satchshift does.

One in a million. I've a stockroom full of car parts and that's one of the only ones that has any. Even then it's digital. Either for liability or cost concerns manufacturers insist on a certain level of competency for fitting. If you cannot figure it out you are not suitable for the task. Not very helpful.

parts that are direct replacements I can understand, reversal of removal process and all that!

but for something that doesnt look anything like what it replaces surely a little helping hand would be common courtesy :P

gti6boy can sort that though, given he has finished his installation....
