[engine_work] Budget 16V Turbo In Laser Green

Recommended Posts

rallyeash

Yeah I'm not mistaking the two. But if the owner was to purchase some drag slicks would take the edge off a budget build?! So the best option would be to try be progressive with the power in first?

I do have a 400lbft impreza 2dr which I can't launch in first cause of this very reason but if smart with the power it isn't a problem.

I'm talking about the breaking bits issue, not really the fastest way off the line, its obvious to anyone who has driven anything FWD with over about 200bhp that max revs and dump the clutch is never going to be the fastest way off the line. I've done a 1.8 sec 60ft in a FWD car so have got some experience of this!

Surely the breaking bits and launching by dropping the clutch at max revs like the owner says he's doing in a previous post goes hand in hand?

Ps

I'm not trying to say in anyway you don't know what your talking about and that's impressive 60ft! Fair play

well i was getting 2.2 60ft time with no lsd, but that in my opinion was still a terrible launch.

I broke the gearbox without drag racing slicks.

Ill try and upload the video against a fibre glass impreza that was doing 1.8 60ft times. the 205 catches it up ;)

No, you broke the diff planet wheels, which to be honest can break on a standard engine so its to be expected.

Upgrading to a 19t billet compressor wheel that flows 550cfm @ 1 bar a much bigger intercooler and some adjustable cam pullies before the omex goes on. With the cams I'm hoping for ~350hp

Ok, finally got round to fitting an Omex ecu.

But before I get it mapped fully I need to sort the cam timing.

The cams are generic "270" fast road either piper or Kent. Duration will be around 264 and 10mm of lift. I have the settings for standard n/a mi16 but I would have thought as this is turbos it will be significantly different?

What would be the best setting for them? As in lift @ TDC. And obviously reduce the overlap a bit.

It had adjustable pulleys.

Thanks

boost at 0.5 bar, it hits the limiter in 5th in less than 1/4 of a mile.

Had the car at york 1/4 mile.

It ran a 13.7 @ 102 with only 0.5 bar of boost. I think that's pretty good.

What box you using? Must be short!

Or are you telling porky pies?

I was using the 8v turbo ecu with around 6200rpm limit not the chipped S16 one that allows it to rev to 7400.

1.6 box @ 6200 on 45's is 114.

Couldn't get it to hit the limiter at York unfortunately. First figures were made on the road haha not even sure if the limiter is 6200.

Now, cam timing?
