Bit of a mini update, been cracking on with lining the inside.

However I've got myself a little gadget to go in the shed . A massive thanks to AllanAllen and who fetched the milling machine with mr from Manchester.

Here's a few pics of the little beauty!

another small update

been a bit busy recently so progress has slowed somewhat :(

I've been chipping away at the insulation and internal lining though and this evening i was finally able to fit the garage door now that the end wall has been lined.

Its a niceextruded aluminium roller door and is remote contol operated :)

Also last week with the help of Chris(309Pug), Tom, Henry & Jamie(TidyPug) i picked up my new old lathe from an old guy in sheffield giving up his tools. Its a nice little british made Raglan Lathe already on a single phase 240v motor so should come in useful once the garage is all up and running. It's partially dismantled at the mo.

thats it for now

again another small update

this weekend i tried to smash the remaining exterior cladding that still needed to be done and i reckon i got a good 90% of it done, just a few more planks to go and it'll be done! thank god!!

I fitted the fascia boards to the front and trimmed the roof shingles to match. I also need to make a couple of boards to cover the inside edge of the garage door opening.

IMG_0766.jpg

the lion share of teh work was spent cladding the end wall and fighting the tree/bushes in the corner which made teh job 10 times harder! just nned to make a couple of fascia boards for the end and cut the shingles to match as well

IMG_0762.jpg

IMG_0768.jpg

so things still to do are

1) make end fascia boards

2) cut shingle to match

3) seal shingle edges down

4) make door batens

5) make window frames

6) get windoow glass

7) refit side fascias

8) fit guttering

9) finish lining inside

10) finish cutting roof insulation baords

11) finish lining roof

12) install plug sockets

13) install lights

14) fit wiring

so not much then!!!

Instead of bring a bottle you could do bring some billet.

This shed is coming along really, really well. Once day I hope to do something similar :) And as an architecture student its nice to see someone taking the time to do something properly and that looks nice, even if it is a shed!

mini update

been plugging away at it still

I've bought some metal trunking & plastic conduit to run the cabling in, so this past week i've been fitting that & sorting the lighting and sockets.

I'm haiving 5 circuits

1) Lights

2) Normal 13amp plug sockets

3) dedicated 16amp socket for Air Compressor

4) string of 16amp sockets for the welder

5) dedicated 16 amp sockets for lathe & milling machine

i now have light, power and a snazzy remote control roller garage door

What a shed/garage! I am somewhat surprised no to see a dedicated sixth curcuit for the beer fridge. Man up and rectify quickly. Does your wife/girlfriend realise yet that you will never move house now that you have such a bespoke garage?

Great project - is garage envy wrong?

How much was the garage door? I've moved house and got a nice brick gagrage but the door is rusting away so needs a new one.

alright Mitch :D

I got it from www.rollerdor.com for £440 (remote control motorised) + delivery, it was ALOT cheaper than thegaragedoor company based in Sheffield even after delivery charge as they are based in Norwich! the advertise on ebay as well

you can save a bit of cash if you don't want a photocell as apaprently by law if they fit it for you they have to fit a photocell which stops the motor of someone breaks the beam where as if your going to do it diy you dont need to buy one.

they were really friendly will make it to any size you want and it came with complete instructions and fixings

Looking good only thing i would say is as you have used galv trunking and hip counduit you have no earth path to the trunking so could realy do with bonding. Wish i had the room for a roller door like that looks so much better than my up and over door!

good point DJMini i'll look to rectify that :)

well this weeks progress has ticked a few of the todo's off the list

1) make end fascia boards done

2) cut shingle to match done

3) seal shingle edges down

4) make door batens done

5) make window frames

6) get windoow glass

7) refit side fascias

8) fit guttering

9) finish lining inside walls done

10) finish cutting roof insulation boards

11) finish lining roof

12) install plug sockets done

13) install lights done

14) fit wiring done

I also had a bit of a major clear up in there as i got fed up of working in a complete disorganised mess, with wood & rubbish thrown everywhere. Once i'd cleared a bit of space and see he floor once more i was able to move the milling machine to its new position. With the scaffold bars it meant i could do it on my own with just bit of pushing and shoving. Spinning it the 180 degress was the toughest part!

Anyway the light at the end of the tunnel is becoming a bit brighter now!

Hell now thats a huge milling machine! If your running things like that and a welder on your 16a sockets your prob need a c type mcb for that circuit rather than b due to the start up current of these items.

Hope this is of help to you.

Dan

Good man makes a change to see some one doing it properly rather than flex and extension leads that are the norm!
