    Ignition Help

Hi, We are currently working on a 205 Gti 1.6 We have 5 young people doing it up with us but we have been having some issues along the way. we have a facebook page to see the progress. www.facebook.com/2fast2soon.projectgti at some point it has had a starter switch added and a toggle for the gin. But i'm not sure if it is wired correctly as currently it will not start the car. we have checked fuses and starter and that is all ok. and help would be grate. when you turn on the ign you do not get the fuel pump on until you press the starter (i know they can me down to pressure but we have had the fuel pipes off so no pressure and it still doen't work untill you press the starter button) The starter button has 2 cables coming off it. i thourght it would just be one cable?? If anyone knows what colour cable are and what they do that would help me out loads to check if they are right. many thanks jonny
  2. Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has had any issues with their Crank Sensor? as my 205 mi16 decided not to start the other day, so i took all the plugs out and none of them are sparking, iv had a mechanic look at it and he has sed that its most likely a bad crank sensor and a replacement is my best bet... Is this the right track or does anyone know anything else it could be? The engine is set up with throttle bodies and bike carbs with a single coil conversion, iv checked all 4 coils and connections but nothing is a miss :/ Thanks Cal
  3. Hi guys, there has been a couple of threads about this but they were created wrongly so I will create this one about the problem in hand. so the story so far, about 2 weeks ago, the 205 started fine, no problems, since then I fitted the rear and front bumpers and some trim in the interior, then I had a dead battery, fitted a recharged one, and no starty. The engine turns over and there is fuel, I checked the two double relays in the dash and they are clicking as they should (some else’s issue on another thread). so I take the first plug out and rest it on the block and no spark, issue found, so I tested the volts at the coil plug from the loom and they were all reading just under 12v when cranking. I recently replaced the JPT plug on the coil as it was in a terrible state, it worked find after that for ages, and I planned on replacing the plug for the ignition amp as that was in poor condition as well, so I replaced the ignition amp with all new pins and plug. I turned it over and it fired into life, it was idling for about 15 seconds, and then it died, and won’t start again, NO SPARK AGAIN. Wiggled the plug around and still not starting, I was advised it might be the ignition amp so I put a wanted thread up (cheers for the reply’s) but I was too impatient and got one from Allparts, plugged this in and still won’t start. Does anyone have any ideas I could try? Could it really be the coil pack after it started fine when I replaced the plug? really need some help, ive been restoring it for 10 months now and when i can finially get it on the road this happends.
  4. Hi, Right well the car is now firing up but it won't run for any time. Checked the spark plugs and one was wet and the other I checked was dry. Need help, is it possible that the fuel is being cut by the engine due to a sensor or maybe it's a dodgy injector or two. Any help and the help already received is greatly appreciated. Phil
