  1. Not been here for a good few years but still have my GTI and trying to get it through the MOT due to a couple of niggles!! Failed on horn not working which cause me to do loads of wiring checks inc removal of fuse box. Now it’s all back together when I switch on the high beam the headlights go off ! I also have no flash. It was working ok before I had it apart. Following going through all the similar threads on this site I have confirmed the relay (far left) in the fuse box is working by swapping it with the electric window one and then swapping back, and also changed the relay near the expansion tank and confirmed it is working. I have also fitted a new indicator stalk. I suspect the one thing that MIGHT be contributing is the loose wire that I have found when going back to the fuse box! It is stamped 6J and has a single plug on it but I can’t for the life of me see where it connects to nor can I even find it on the wiring diagram. Any electrical gurus help? many thanks
  2. Has anyone seen one of these before? Looks interesting but what caught my eye is the mint SIEM driving light in there. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Capat-Grill-Kuhlergrill-Peugeot-205-Siem-Scheinwerfer-NEU-NOS-/251626240227?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item3a9617b8e3
  3. I don't know if this is the right section to put this in but pugfive on eBay are selling used SIEM driving light lenses for £14.94 (no cracks). People are after these quite often as they can crack so thought I would let you guys know. eBay item number: 251589342412
  4. Before we took the engine out everything had worked, after rebuilding the engine and painting the car I have some electrical issues (although the loom stayed in and also nobody was messing arround it. Also all the connectors are clean and checked: - (bottom) driving lights don't work - there's no power comming through - question: from the main loom, where do the cables go (1987 Ph1) - I can't find a relay nor the fuse for it. All I know is that it's the brown wire comming to driving lights connectors but on the other side I don't have a clue where it goes (definitely it goes to a wiring loom but from there it's all insulated). If I only knew that, I could examine why it doesn't get the power to the lights... Also, is there a relay for Ph 1 or at least a fuse? I know a work arround, which is pretty obvious (new wiring and new relay switch) but it just pisses me off since it worked just fine before. - oil pressure gauge - when I turn the key to ignition position (so just before turning the engine) the needle jumps to max but when the engine runs it doesn't show anything. I checked the connector, the sender is supposed to work, so I don't have a clue what else can I check. Read quite some, but nowhere found an answer about relay and fuse for the driving lights in Ph1 cars and about oil pressure - no idea left whatsoever...
