Yes , they're straight :) i've had a look more closer and it appears that this complete front part is cut off item from an good car and then welded on this Mr. Rusty one as i've found some traces of welding on the inner wings beneath headlamps  anyway it looks like rather tidy job ;) (made some measurements as well , all around the front of the car and compare them with measurements of my other Ph2 car and they're all seems identical .. well maybe +-5mm out on few areas , however i spotted something strange on Mr. Rusty (optically) - the RH strut top seems to be sitting slightly higher then the LH one :( .. i'll make some pisc later ..)

.. tried measuring like this , unfortunately i jacked up the car earlier beneath the RH side on the sill so it didn't settle down on the strut yet , so i dunno if this test is relevant :( :

that side of the car could be a little bit lower naturally due to more weight (engine offset).

the turret does look a little distorted, not an uncommon problem and is usually strengthened on competition cars with welded on plates.

Well , last night i removed the battery , windshield washer bottle , coil/ignition amp plate out and then had a good look one more time at the strut tops from the front - after clearing all this bits around the LH side they now seemed identical hight  .. might been in doubt earlier that day cos i was a little bit plastered :) been drinking rum with tea and did ignite one funny fag as well  (it was a must in order to calm my nerves  )

 understandable, a friend of mine is often in a foul mood after a day's welding of Ford's fantastically rusty products (aka Transit vans)

Yes i've heard about those early Ford cars (Mk1 Escort's , Capry's etc. ...) , people are saying that the bodywork on them are ofter pure iron oxide these days

Really :) i've had an 2.0 1994year Mondeo (made more than 400.000Km's with that car  was nice to drive pretty nippy and with good feel trough the steering wheel , nice short gearbox kinda sporty and still very comfortable car) and i was good un , didn't have any rust on the bodywork  anyway it was made in Germany (from German Ford factory - Koln town ..)

Slowly and painfully  no , im waiting my mate the body man said that he will arrive here tomorrow or day after saturday/sunday maybe as i would like him to see the car as it is in this state without me starting to repair it by myself .. then , after he examine the complete shell and says what to do where and how i'll start with the real work :)

(i want a proper job however i don't have so much experience with these body repairs  although i know what and how i need to do that repair but i still want to hear what the body professional thinks about this and , most important , to pick up some bodywork tricks/advices from him as well for the benefit of this and the future bodywork projects  )

Well i'll try to do my best with this :P as i said , i don't really mind cos i have loads of spare time , i know how to weld and i like welding and it's not as expensive repair in term of material needs such as for instance full car respray or something similar  it's just - very dirty , ugly , smelly and time consuming job .

If nothing it'll be bodywork practice for the future , and practice makes perfection B)

(anyway my mum and dad both said - don't give up , fix up the bugger you can do it :P )

All credit to you for having a go and keeping a 205 alive! The time will come when we will not be able to get 205 shells and we will all be attempting restorations to this level.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks a lot for the support ! B)

So true <_< few more years and we'll be all armed with angle grinders and welders  though i believe that you can still find a good un back there in the UK , they're already really rare cars here in my country :( ... and bloody regulations do not allows us importing cars older than 7 years from the EU countries so that doesn't help either .. (i've often seen really good 100% mint rust free samples in Italy  brought to the scrapyard because of one silly scratch on the bodywork or simple electric malfunction  and could only use them for spare parts .. eventually they where all ended under the press , shame isn't it ..)

how much of a shell swap could you get away withi f you visited another country and swaped the majority of bits over?

might be worth a thought if supply is drying up <_<

We're allowed to take/import just the mechanical parts across the border  though it is possible to import complete car but then you can use him just for spares , can't register him for driving if it's older than 7years... (or you can chop + rewed chassis numbers with ones from an domestic car with domestic paperwork , but that's a bit dangerous if the MOT man spots that theres something "funny" with documentation/chassis numbers .. )

The last option is to , well , crash an domestic car which has fully passed MOT (but it must be total bodywork damage !!) and then you can import an shell for that car according to the police crash record (written record that you've had 100% bodywork damage and so you need an replacement shell ) .. and still you can import just an shell with interior  it must be clear -without suspension and engine/gearbox on ..

This the trusty rusty car above was built from various imported bits , and yes i have some imported stock parts B) unfortunately i don't go over there so often these days chasing spares <_<

Well , im a bit slow going  but i expect to finish it for lets say 4 weeks <_< still , bar this floor welding i have some respray work to do as well and was planing to strength up the shell a bit around the B pillar so will probably need few more days to do it all properly .. im not in a hurry anyway

Back to business (been pausing cos i catch a cold cold2.gif ...) :

Stitched up the .. well i dunno how you call this thingy  .. sill stiffener maybe ?! .. never mind , it was a must to cut this section out in order to reach/clean the area at the back as it was full of sand/moisture :

prag11.jpg

prag22.jpg

.. then , proceed with crap terminating :

Crap on the exhaust tunnel  :

Fixed :

IMG_8899.jpg

And decided to make and blend a patch from the exhaust tunnel down to the floor level (cos it'll be easier to make and to weld floor panel afterwards ... at least me thinks so :D ) :
