Sump Baffle - Is This Any Good?

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead. Is there a Do-It-Yourself way to baffle and trap door a XU9J4/z sump pan? Or is a XU10 sump a direct and more effective replacement both cost and functionality.

 

I modify the XU9J4 (or alloy XU9J2) sump for AUS$150 exchange. That includes a trap door baffle and pump baffle, contoured to fit the XU9J4 sump (not just a copy of the XU10 pump baffle). Hardly viable for someone in Canada however.
