cti got MOT'd, passed first time which is rare. Turns out last year I did a whopping 550 odd miles in it. Which 250 of where a run to Brighton and back.

Gti got a new alternator belt and some new front indicators - needs a bloody good clean and some Plasticare.

Had a welding marathon today - Cage plates all welded in and made up a new mount for my fuel pressure regulator. I also fitted a diesel gearbox.

Fuel pipes to sort tomorrow, can't wait to get the turbo back on the road!

Used it as the daily while the Vag had Its MOT.

Realised is pointless and boring on a commute run with all the bells on the road.

And then got confirmation of a place at hot hatch Sunday at goodwood :)

Flushed out my coolant system, came out like orange squash so had a good hour flushing the lump, rad and matrix, forwards and backwards.

Filled back up with a quality coolant/antifreeze

Also gave it a bit of a de-carbing by high revving it and hosing water straight into the inlet, cleared out a ton of crap.

Need to do this with mine as there's no warm air passing to the matrix. I reckon with it stood for so long its sludged up. I'm going tobtake the interior out and replace the matrix as a precautionary I reckon.

no need to remove the interior to change the matrix, just one panel.

Started to weld up the area below the master cylinder. What started as a simple single piece patch looks much more complex now. The seam along bulkhead to floor is rotten at the drivers side, so that'll be more work.....

Had a little idea.

Centre Cap.

Thin coat of red Hammerite Smooth on A4 paper.

Put the two together.

And got this.

Yep, that or careless refilling. Think I'll put a fresh mc on anyway. Was good to get something done rather than more dismantling. However the bonnet looks quite rusty underneath, which I hadn't really appreciated before....

That's life,

Yeah cheers

Didn't make it clear and I knew after posting and reading back it didn't sound correct. I'll be taking the interior out to clean anyway as the carpets a little grubby so whilst out I'll do the matrix. Just for peace of mind as well I'd like to have a look underneath the carpet to check there's no gremlins lurking.

Thanks for picking up on it though.

Cleared out a load of crap and had a good clean up in the garage. Blown the tyres up and moved the 205 back into the middle of the garage were it belongs.

Enthusiasm is back and its time to make some seat mounts.

Refitted freshly painted rear back plates, new wheel cylinders and made up new rear brake pipes. Not liking these darker evenings.

Washed the fly's off the front end of it and went out for a spin.

Came home buzzing and thinking "what fooking age am i?", "that thing can shift".

Then i remembered my parental responsibilities, tucked it away in it's bed, put my slippers on, and cracked open "une bière ou plusieurs".

Until tomorrow.........

Had a good day today, welded in plates with captive nuts for the cage on the turbo car. While I was at it I plated a small hole but to be honest the shell is very good with almost no rust to speak of. Finished off painting rear beam for refit then need to move onto bucket seat mounting frames.......

Fitted a new thermostat seal and water outlet housing. Put Loctite grey gasket sealant where the original mechanic? [couldn't be bothered/was too ignorant] to do so.

Also fitted a new A Pillar trim which had all it's fixings intact- rattlebegone

Nice boots, very retro.

Done nothing but spend money on fuel and rip the arse out of the car, loads of things I want to do but just enjoying it at the moment. Tax due this month so no more mods till winter time. Did wash it today though.

Broke bonnet cable, made new one from xsara picasso throttle cable. Job done and off to a friends for some R&R........cue being reversed into by a Discovery, smashed bonnet, slam and front panels....means more work to be done. Oh well, at least he admitted fault and didn't do a runner.
