Can Anyone Tell Me What This Engine Is?

Recommended Posts

nick9one1

all i know is that

"This engine came from a citroen but it is the same engine that goes in a Peugeot.

It comes with loads of parts including wiring loom, cat and lamber sensor, alternator, ECU. In fact everything is there to do an engine conversion which is why I bought it.

I was told when I bought it that it had done 79,000 miles.

I have got the gearbox that came with it if the winning bidder wants it."

and i got it for 140 which seemed a good price!

Wrong, it's a 136bhp XU10J4R, found in some 306 16v XSi's, 406 Ph1 and some citroens of course.

It's not a GTi-6 engine - look at the inlet manifold.

It looks to me like the 136hp XU10J4R 2.0 16v engine found in various 306/406/Xantia/XM models

Swap GTi-6 cams and manifolds onto it and you've a pretty potent engine for not alot of money.

My mistake.

I've got a pair of cams and an inlet though...

Do they simply bolt on? Can I use the 6 management with it?

I've got an idea...

Pretty much as the GTi-6 for the most part for plumbing and wiring, and there should be loads on the subject if you search.

One thing that does puzzle me though - why on earth did you buy an engine that you had no idea what it was, nor whether it would fit?

Engine is common to lots of Peugeot's and Citroen's.

306 XSi 16v, 406 2.0 16v (earlier models), Xantia 2.0 16v (except '93 VSX models), XM 2.0 16v to name a few...

the car was an R reg 306 xsi

if its the cat that the car came from the factory with

looks a bit like this

the its worth silly money (up to £100  )

but this sort go for nothing

you'll need to either get hold of an unlocked ecu or send that one to the ecu doctor (£150)

as said they aint a bad engine, a pretty good upgrade on a 1.6 but with the gti6 bits a good upgrade for a 1.9

Put the cats on ebay, there's people on there that only buy them and nothing else
