McDude 33 Posted October 21, 2008 I've been toying with the idea of running my 1.9 alloys with R888s - I see this as a summer tyre/trackday tyre as when the going gets really wet they don't have the water shedding capabilities. This made me think that a set of winter tyres on some steelies might be a good idea. I'm not talking a full on studded ice killer, but a tyre designed with colder temperatures and wetter weather in mind. I think this concept is a bit alien to us here in the UK because it doesn't get that cold, but in mainland Europe it is mandatory in many countries regardless of snow. Cost-wise, winter tyres aren't that dear ~£40 a corner Ayone already doing this? Is this overkill? Discuss!!!
notamondayfan 44 Posted October 21, 2008 I've used uniroyal wet weather tyres in the past and they work really well. Deep tread does the trick.
large 33 Posted October 21, 2008 I dont know what you are on about, with the amount of rain we have had this year its a winter tyre all year round . If it gets wetter next year i'm getting a boat
