Guest rhombus Posted October 19, 2008 I have a 1.9 205 CTi with an irritating intermediate starting problem. About one time in twenty the car will not start but the starter turns the engine over. I have put a spark plug tester between the lead and the end plug and the little neon light does not come on. If I then take out the end spark plug and turn it over on the starter it then starts on three cylinders , or at least shows signs of firing. If I screw the plug back in and reconnect the lead it starts up fine. Any suggestions about what the problem is or what should I replace first?
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted October 21, 2008 Could be ignition amplifier, dodgy HT leads, lose wire. Check the wires from the coil first and do some wiggle testing before buying anything
