Rich_p 23 Posted September 3, 2008 I am shortly going to be fitting a be3 1.6 box to the 309 (it already has a 1.6 box but the incorrect be1) Will I really notice any difference if we fit a 1.6 flywheel at the same time? Or am I best using the money elsewhere on the car? The engine is a standard 1.9 lump btw.

shalmaneser 26 Posted September 3, 2008 You may as well if you've got access to it? Are there actually any disadvantages to lighter flywheels, if you're not a moron who keeps stalling their car?
James_R 3 Posted September 4, 2008 Yes they do make a difference through 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and not so much after that. Doesn't affect the idle at all, it's still pretty heavy compared to a "light" flywheel, but a massive improvement on the slab of metal the 1.9 fly is.
