These are probably what I'm going to get when I finally sort some 15" rims for the 306 hdi, not a bad price either even in 195/55-15. (~£40 each when T1R's are £45) but then there are the nankangs NS2's @ £35 each. :).

Graham.

More feedback. Have done a few hundred miles on the toyos now and they are fantastic. Driving in the wet today, no usual tyre spin when accelerating in 1st getting up to motorway speed. Will keep you posted on how well they do in the corners once they have worn in.

Big thanks to chocolate_o_brian who pointed me in the direction of these tyres for a fantastic price.

After speaking to Miles, I recently changed my front tyres to the FALKEN ZIEX ZE-912 195/50 R15 82V, after having Goodyear Eagle F1's.

I must say I'm quite impressed with them, the steering feels lighter and easier to turn than with the F1's and they don't tramline as much, good level of grip and I paid just £62 for 2 delivered from Camskill, £31 each, good job Miles!

How do the 912's compare to the Falken FK452's?

452's are still better but they only start in 17" last time I looked, I;ve run the 452's for ages now with no complant's at all

Arn't the 912's a replacement for the earlier ZE 512? This tyre sits below their FK (451/452) range, which is their proper performance orientated tyre.

I found the ZE 512 (ran them on a MG ZS180) gave a predictable, soft feel with good wet performance. Not much good in the dry, its not an out-and-out performance tyre. I'd imagine the 912 will have similar characteristics.

My fave cheapo tyre is the Kumho Ecsta KU31.

I'm thinking of getting a pair of new tyres next week. Got T1-S all around at the mo', and still have plenty of thread, but in the 13 months my car was off the road it stood with 3 flat tyres for most of the time. I was expecting the to be fooked after that but could find nothing amiss when they were fully inflated, and it passd the MOT. But today I found an inch lng crack along the sidewall of one of them, so not wanting to take a chance I think I'll replace it, and one of the others.

If I go for Black Circles, the F1 is only about £3 more than the T1-R, so I'll go for F1s. If I can get the T1-R cheaper though, I'm starting to think it might not be such a bad choice from the last 2 pages I've read. I don't do track days, so that downside of the F1 is irrelevant.

Shame Black Circles only give a £2.5 discount for 2 tyres, or £5 for 2 if you choose the fully fitted option. Bit of a tight arse offer!

My road set of F1's are actually suffering from treadblocks heating up & deforming too, so wearing unevenly. You can also feel the car squirming a little more due to them also. Although they do provide excellent & predictable grip, especially in the wet.

i really rated A520s and A539s on mine - they might not grip as well as others but i thought they were quite entertaining for it and they stand up to track abuse very well

had a pair on the front of the Cup (with ContiSports on the back) and it did show up the difference in the two tyres - fairly impressive understeer on track (although the rear end of the Cup is seemingly unstickable compared with the 205). got ContiSports on the front again now and rate them, although i'm not sure if they're available in 195/50/15 and they're going to be a little more expensive than Yoko/Toyo

the tyre everyone raves about on the Clio is the Michelin PE2, but they're rediculously expensive compared with just about all of the others, even the premium brands

if it helps, this was the most competitive site i found whilst hunting around recently: http://www.fasttyres.co.uk/results2.php?th...mp;first_row=15

I've a set of Michelin PE2s on mine and they are very good. They are what I'd describe as an 'invisible' tyre. They do everything well and you are not conscious of them at all, they are just there and working. If you can get to a Costco they do silly offers for Michelin, I paid just under £200 for four.

Next tyre I will try will most likely be the F1.

Ive been running T1-R's the last few weeks and they are very impressive. Surpised how much grip i had yesterday in the rainy/greasy conditions.

i'm at the point of buying tyres to for a track car/road car, it will be used mainly on the track and a bit of road use, i have toyo CF-1's on my 306 HDI and took it to nurburg with a few other lads who had R888 on their gti's, i thought he CF-1's were great, now i know i wasnt as quick as the gti's round the ring but i still was doing 11.30 mins laps!! the tyres were getting a good work out and were great when hot!! they only got slightly scrubbed but after the drive back from the ring they seemed back to normal so...

do i get CF-1's again for track car, £31.60 each black circles or T1-R £35.44 or last resort for a load more money R888 £72 each!!

p.s its a 205 gti 1.9, possibly to be a mi soon, stripped out, coilovers etc

cheers ( i'm sure baz will have a idea as he has them on the miami???)

depends how quickly you want/need to go i guess

track tyres will give you quicker lap times but they're much less progressive than road tyres which might be a consideration around a track like that

I have found r888's break away quite predictabley when allowed to warm up to good operating temperatures first.

Can give the F1's a thumbs up, but they do wear rapidly.

F1's tend to heat quickly with track work, and in my experience, are'nt very progressive. Crashed my 205 at the 'Ring because of this.

came home down some windy roads tonight and what can i say! The t1-r's hold the road really well, minor wheel spin when flooring it in 1st gear very impressed with these tyres, make me very confident in my 205. Really cant go wrong for 130 quid.

I agree. I've got the 452's on the BMW now, after falling over at the price of new RFT Bridgestone Potenza's. I was looking at £700 for all 4 on the internet, BMW probably wanted nearer a grand! The 452's came in at £300....bargain. Plus they have enhanced the ride from the crashy RFT's.

The tyre itself is quite good, plenty of grip (yes, I have pushed it too) in dry and wet. You can light up the wheels easily, but only with full boost.

Not sure on trackwork, but if my 205 was a road orientated car then I would certainly consider them if available in the correct size.

I have had toyo's for the last 5 or so years. There fantastic on the road but the fronts melted on the track. I Have switched the fronts to Pilot Me2's to see if there better on track. They did seem better around curborough but was only tested for a few mins at a time. I can say there is a a lot more wheelspin with the pe2's compared to the toyos t1-r's in the wet and in the dry and would recard the t1-r as being the better road tyre.
