i have done a search but there is no definative list of parts needed to fit this engine

right as you may have noticed by now, i'm very confused as to what engine to put in my car

was doing a 1.9, then 2.0 16v, then v6

i'm now longing for a spot of WWWOOOOOOOHHHMMMM TTTTTIIIISSSSHHHH

some questions

(1) what do i need, engine, turbo, manifolds, loom, ecu.... is there anything else major that i need to fit that i have to get with the engine?

(2) will my kent pt27 cam fit the 406 head? i think yes they are the same head' but i aint sure

(3) will the exhaust need modifying or will the standard 1.9 zorst fit

(4) what major problems will i come accross

(5) what power do they put out as standard?

for the money i need to spend on fitting all the bits i have for my 1.9 engine i'm sure i can turbo it

anything else please let me know :)

thanks

Pete

(1) try and make sure you get everything as a complete package as missing sensors/connectors all add up quickly eg £10 here £15 there

- engine + suitable mount (xm = just need top arm of mi16 engine mount)

- unlocked ecu

- mi16 flywheel + mi16 clutch + bolts

- lambda sensor

- 2 pin VSS and vss module or 3 pin VSS sensor and plug

- 2.5" stainless pipes to make boost pipes

- intercooler (cosworth 2wd is a good choice)

- silicone elbow bends + suitable clips

- suitable gearbox

(2) not sure i'm afraid whether it will fit or whetehr the profile is suitbale for a turbo application

(3) Exhaust downpipe will need modifying and a lamda boss will need welding onto it so lsensor can be attached.

(4) bottom mount needs extending by about 20mm to allow the turbo and boost pipes to clear the brake servo.

(5) power is around 150bhp but with loads more torque

Ant

Petes pretty much summed it up

For the 406 youll need a top mount from a 306 XSi / GTi6

And lots and lots of jubilee clips.

Wiring is interesting if using the standard loom as it may melt on the turbo if not suitably insulated.

Also the ecu ends up in the front of the engine bay which is not always ideal.

Finally, you need to shift your fuel pipes so they don't run up by the turbo for safety's sake and I also relocated the fuel filter as it sat right above the hot turbo!
