Recommended Posts

Spiky

i've seen cars now, with upper and lower strut brace's

i've got neither, should i run them?

the rear will be easy to fit,

BUT

as I have the GTI-6 engine, will it still fit????

Worthwhile mod IMO, but only if all you've also upgraded the top mount rubbers as the standard ones are pretty soft.

Rear strut brace? Tell me more.... :)

I'm sure this has been discussed before mate (whether they will fit with your engine), but I'm not sure what the outcome was.

Definatly worth fitting the top brace, Mine fits with my Mi with a good bit of clearance so shouldn't cause you any issue.

Yup, I just fitted my front upper strut brace to my GTi6 equipped 205. I found that the clearance was better then when it was on the original 1.9 engine.

Buy one and try it. If your not happy just stick it up for sale.

I recently sold an OMP used one for £55+ FFS.

The only reason i don't run one, is i get pissed off with them being in the way when doing simple tasks in the bay. But i may change my mind in the future.

Sparco every time for a brace, I think of 'OMP' as just poor quality everything

I certainly wouldn’t want to be in a incident with that bar and the harness mounted that way, the back seats more than likely would give way or pop forward leaving you to fly forward somewhat, Plus the main loading is on the front mounts not the rear ones

Constella do a rear strut brace. Maybe a bit overkill?

OMG ! You will need blue under-floor-lights to make this work!

As allready mentioned: no struts - no strut brace.

Besides, who had the brilliant idea to fit harnesses to a square piece of whatever it is tubing?

To answer the initial question: Yes, a front strut brace is a worthwhile thing to have. Make/model is pretty much up to personal taste.

Whichever you like the best. :)

I personally went with the red Sparco one. I wanted a red one to keep with my theme. :)

lol that rear brace is hilarious as the inner arch walls are so thin there and yes, no way I would put the belts on it! I have a rear brace in my Visa but then I have normal coil overs at the back so it might actually do something heh

I don't think anyone other than Rob (?) at Constella should be taking these posts personally. No one objects to you posting it, they have just given their opinion of the product itself :D

heh Chris, wasnt having a go, just commenting. Whilst we are vaguely on the subject, i would like to express my hatred towards those "for show only" half roll cages people put in, most of which cost more than a proper complete cage which you could always paint if you wanted it to be more bling than that standard black :D

I fitted a front upper strut brace to a 1.6 half way through last summers annual jaunt to Cadwell Park. Car completely standard other than lowered beam. I found the difference on turn immediately noticeable.

I must however temper the above statement by confessing I drive like crap.

Intend to repeat the experiment in reverse next time, to get a better understanding of what was psychological and what was actual improvement.

For the price of these items it has to be a worthwhile experiment, just sell it on if not impressed.

I took mine off as it got in the way.

But, they can cause dint in the roof by sending the "flex" further through the shell............. or so I am told

my upper strut bace doesnt do anything but the lower one does. i think with them its the driving style and your mind that thinks they work.if you spend £100 on a upper and lower brace you want it to work seen as you have spent money so thats why i think they work crazy as i may seem
