isn't it worth doing at least a minir bottom rebuild as the head is off. Tidy up the bores and fit new rings at least etc ? I don't know how much your rings would appreciate having to clean up surface rust.

also i'd clean up / remove the paint on the oil pressure senders, it wont make a good contact surface currently

New pistons & liners were fitted about 2 1/2 years ago and ive done no more than 6000 miles since, also had all the crank bearings done & crank reground at same time.

Im replacing all the sensors on the block with new, i just left the old ones in to keep the paint from getting into places it shouldnt

What torque settings should the head bolts be tightened to when it comes to refitting the head ?

LOADS of gunk degreaser, then a good presssure wash off for about an hour and a half continually gunking it and scrubbing then spraying. Once id done that i got a wire wheel onto it !

Hey mate. Awesome job you doing there. Im rebuilding my Mi aswell and just got to the stage where i use loadsa gunk degreaser and solvents to clean it up and later paint it.

Just a tip to prevent the rust forming, spray a light coat of WD40 over the internals of the engine..like your liners. If your not going to work on the engine for a while, it'll keep the engine from rusting away into thin air!! :P
