Also worth checking (and i didn't see it reading through the post - but apologies if it's been mentioned before!!!) is the vacuum advance mech on the dizzy. These have been known to die and can make the car a little lifeless. The tube could have just popped off, or the diaphragm on the dizzy itself may have failed.
