Absolutely, had to jack up rear n/s take wheel off and support with axle stand right at the very back of car ,remove jack , cut away some of the rear floor where floor pan meets. Lots of other fettling and definitely not easy but achievable.

Wow! That is a project!

I shall look forward to hopefully spotting it out and about in Cwmbran sometime!  You might spot my 205 out and about around Cwmbran from time to time, mines a 1998 1.4 Generation LHD, blue, but a deeper blue than your GTI. You should be able to see a pic on my profile.

All the best with the ongoing work, will be checking back to see your progress, great work!

Thank you, surprising how much work involved. Hopefully have the floor in by next weekend after media blasting.

New lower rear quarter weld in place on top of new sill. Good panel purchased off retro race and rally, had be cut to fit but quality part.

Thanks, think it might be a while yet lol.

Costing me a fortune in the process and back bedroom filling up with boxes of new parts .

Well the rear floor section has been fitted for roughly a month, offside sill fitted and lots of fabrication to the offside rear wheel arch. It's taking shape VERY slowly
