Adamf Deep Clean - Live

Recommended Posts

iPlod999

So for something a bit different.

When I do a deep clean I take various photos during the job and spend about an hour putting together a thread.

However, this time I will write the thread as I go.

Adam had been in contact for a while. He was due to bring his Black 205 to me. However, this ended up being a 5hitty cut and shut.

However, he picked himself up and got on with getting another.

With the help of Aarontrophy he has a Cherry Red.

And here it is.

20140717_123552_zpskuccoudl.jpg

Adam is away until next Wednesday. So instead of my flogging myself half to death in 1 day I can spread this one out.

It also means that mine will be parked out on the street for 6 days! First time in 2 and a half years of ownership. ;)

Round to the garage and let's go. :)

A little walk around the car to assess the job in hand.

No thing major to report.

A scratch here

20140717_130127_zpsuzzd7c0j.jpg

A dink there

20140717_130133_zpsj2momuu6.jpg

Will not be able to do much with the dink but may tidy it up a bit.

20140717_130155_zpszkukidxc.jpg

I'll do some action shots as I go on the scratches.

There are a couple of 'drip' marks on the drivers door. Not able to pick them up on the camera at the moment. May be bird mess which has etched away at the paint.

Again I will see what I can do.

Rinse down.

Another Snow Foam.

20140717_143231_LLS_zpswfhtox3z.jpg

2 bucket wash, grit guards an an Incredimitt.

20140717_143620_LLS_zpskhnillxp.jpg

The was is done while the 2nd lot of Snow Foam is dwelling. This will enable a soapy sliding surface to ensure any grit or die on the car will not inflict damage to the paint work.

Not really need for what I am doing today. However, I always maintain my own car to keep them swirls away.

Remember the 2 buckets.

output_zpsix2rkhzo.jpg

Rinse water in one. Soap in the other.

Use one bucket and by the time you get towards the end of the wash. You are washing with filthy water and grit.

Swirl City.

Much better.

Other than my own car. I don't think I have spent so long on a bonnet.

That's it for today.

Back to the day job tomorrow.

More work on this tomorrow evening. Near side I think.

Any questions, comments, queries or suggestions (I am no pro) fire away.

Cheers for looking.

Glen.

Excellent, as always. :) Can i ask what clay mitt you would recommend? I'm trying to expand my car cleaning equipment and techniques, that's next on the list!

The mitt I have used above is a G3 mitt. It's the only one I have used so I don't know how it fairs against others.

Available in Halfords for about £12.

There are others appearing on the market but some are more than double the price.

These are so easy to use compared to 'normal' clay.

Dip in bucket of shampoo water. Rub backwards and forwards over a panel. You can feel and hear the paint getting smother.

Dip in shampoo water again and move onto next panel.

This is really good, I like how you've shown it in stages as you go. You got me on the 2 bucket wash a while ago and I really like the grit blockers in the bottom. I bought a clay bar kit over a year ago and never used it as I've heard horror stories about going through the paint. Would you recommend the mitt for first timers and then the clay bar later on, or is there no need if the mitt does the job?

Thanks, Ive got a clay bar, but have always been too nervous to get the best out of it, this looks like a much quicker/easier solution! How much use/life do you get out of the mitt? While not a bad price at 12-13 quid, if you need to buy them regularly, its an expensive addition! I guess you have to do alot more cars than me though :D
