Which Payen part number have you been given?

FM Ecat shows HR5080 and 5081, no pic of them though so can;t confirm what type they are.

If you want I can pop in and ask, not likely to get them till mid next week unless I have a set at home.

I'll see what I can do, I have a vague recollection of having a spare set put aside for a future project but I have no idea where they might be in my room at the moment  might even be o.e.

Have you checked the top of your valve guides to see if they're the right size?

I think it was the 16v TU ones that were the same in aftermarket not 8v.

Looks a nice job Pete well done.

Three things I would do before you do anything else, number one is dress the manifold mating faces up, gentle use of a file will suffice here, number two is to go round and tap out all the threads to clean them, number three is that once you've finished the filing and tapping work give it all a bloody good clean out with compressed air, furry pipe cleaners through the oil ways and brake cleaner before you build it.

I also like to use Graphogen assembly paste on the cam journals in the head, its a steel cam running directly in the alloy head so it all helps on first start up, I also use a smear of Graphogen on the faces of the cam followers, you don't need to go mad just a smear will do the trick.

Cheers Tom will do.

Was gonna chuck it back through the dishwasher cam side down as there us still some gunk around the valve stems

Edit: fecking hell that stuffs expensive!!! Proper opened a can of worms with this build, but have learned a fair bit along the way too

ive found a supplier of bga seals online but need a part number if you have one?

do these ones seem right? they list for the xsara coupe 163bhp but not gti6 for some reason only s16? answering my above comment the bga part is vk4377 i think?

Stick to brands for HG, As you say, Mellior, Reinz, Corteco. Do not risk BGA etc for this, some of their gaskets are literally useless, won't even seal the coolant at the outset.

Just re read this and the 'quality' brand that come from gsf was a bga one.

This build just goes from bad to worse
