i heard that 306 shocks are 1cm shorter than 205 shocks.

and apparently 405 Mi16 shocks are the same length as 306 ones, while T16 are 1cm shorter still.

but i've not measured it myself, so i can't confirm it.

would you still use a 405 top mounts and springs?

would 205 or 306 shocks be suitable for a 405 with a v6 in it?

1 yes

2 only a set of gti6 dampers I would think, seeing as the gti6 engine and box is the heaviest combo ion the range, heavier than nearly all 405's, and probably within a few kilo's of a V6 engine and box.

there are Bilstein Dampers listed for the 405 though, you could just use those....

surly a gti6 is no where close to a v6 in weight? v6s are seriously heavy!

nope, they aren't that heavy at all, they're an alloy block, the gti6 is a big heavy iron block.

granted the ML gearbox weighs about 10 kilo's more than the BE3/4-6

on most online bilstein dealer's listings, PM Miles to see if they're available though.

you could always convert to ride height adjustable struts and have the choice of 2.25" springs that are pretty cheap.
