Does a integrale count? That's got a hatch, or a Talbot Sunbeam. Clio Williams up there too.

Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned..

Already been mentioned a couple of times.

I wanted one years ago, but any remotely local had terrible sills. Glad they sorted the rust issues with the later Clio's.

My 172 cup is a riot to drive, but lacks the feel of an older hatch.

DERP.. serves me right for skim reading.

My mate had one for about 20 minutes, until it suffered a massive electronic failure and never recovered.

Back in the day, I didn't think much of the 205. A mate had one practically brand new (rich parents!) in the early to mid nineties and I always thought it was typical french tin can  Obviously, driving one has changed my opinion.

When I was clearly on another planet all those years ago, I actually had a thing for mk2 Ford Fiesta XR2s. I have no idea why, as when I got to drive one, back-to-back with a 205 GTi 1.6, it was nasty. Soggy steering and suspension, gearchange felt like you were stirring a bowl of porridge and an engine that just did not sound happy. I gather a zetec in a mk2 makes a rapid Ford though.

Does an E30 M3 fall in the category? :D

Nissan Pulsar GTi-R - Has a hatch, and about 300bhp on a bar of boost, which makes it hotter than a furious Deep-Heat hand-job.

The rest are just warm hatches by comparison ;)

I had a black mk1 Golf gti. Great car.

Had a red (and vinyl roof) 1969 mk2 3ltr Capri Ghia X with a manual box. Incredably rare car (most were manual). Sold it for £30...... doh!

Had an MG metro turbo. Had a full body kit on it (not done by me or my taste). Great fun but a bit sh1te.

The 205 is the only other hot hatch that has ever really attracted me and I have one of those now.

Lotus Sunbeam - one day

Charade GTTi - mate had one new in 89 and it was hilarious

XR2 Mk2 - only other hot hatch from period I've owned; minted it up and loved it to bits - must be 15 years ago now*

Golf GTI Mk.5 - best of the modern lot I've driven despite having more kit than many mid range exec cars

* I did have an MG Metro but would never count that as "hot" - and stupidly I fought the insurance company to repair it after a head-on when frankly it should have been written off...

To anyone thinking of a lotus sunbeam, good luck getting parts! Been there done that. They are actually more expensive and harder to get original parts for than a mk2 escort!! Very expensive car nowadays.

Clio William 1 - has the plaque on the dashboard and is the original. Williams 2 and 3 were marketing ploys with the 3 coming with ABS etc.

Nearly bought one 2 years ago.

Yup, unless you have a friend who has an insane addiction to them akin to my 205 habit...

Always liked the Clio Williams, despite the chavvy looking colour scheme. The Escort Cosworth is a hatchback too, so I'm counting that as well. Again, chavvy as, but I've always wanted one.
