first problem with original engine once fitted found coolent leaking in the sump ripped all back out again and sent it back.

they stripped it down and said they couldnt find anything wrong charged me £740!! when it arrive back to me had been damaged the thermostat housing was smashed.

second problem fitted back in got it running and found coolent leaking out between head and block see pic

http://s871.photobuc...205dimma003.jpg

third problem found the sump was cracked around bolt when i removed it found it must have been like it befor it was built as it had red sealer in the cracks on the inside, company told me i must have done it! sourced a new one at my expence.

http://s871.photobuc...205dimma004.jpg

the crank pulley was buckeled, and where they had fitted some sort of adaptor plate to fit the gti6 mount to the deisel block it kept throwing my auxilary belt off.

i then discovered it still leakin into the sump took the head off myself and found the head and block wernt compatible!

photo shows where the water way on the head left its mark on the block you can see it would have never sealed! and was like it from day one!

http://s871.photobuc...205dimma015.jpg

engine taken out again and sent back this time i had identified the problem and obviously it had been there from day one when i asked for the £740 back, they charged me for doing nothing i was told that because i took the head off the warranty was void!!

even tho they was incapable of finding the problem in the first place or in my opinion tried to get away with it and charge me a shed load more money!

anyway they finally agreed to build me a new engine with the gti6 block which i wanted in the first place but was told the deisel block was better.

after waiting a month for them to source pistons i was told that the standard rods wouldnt fit the pistons and i would need to fork out for forged rods!! another £540! or i could have the first piece of crap back and they would just block the hole in the head kinda defeated the object of me taking the whole engine out again! so i went for the rods.

i waited for the delivery and when it turns up its just a pallet with scrap on it they got the pallets mixed up and sent my engine somewhere else day off work wasted. then when it finally turned up a week later i found it to be damged again!!

http://s871.photobuc...205dimma010.jpg

But there was no chance in hell i was going to send the engine back to them to repair so i sourced a new cambelt cover and fitted myself.

Sorry for the rant but i really needed to get it out, has been a terrible experience but glad with the out come.

Dont forget to check the title of the Album.

I just want to say a big thanks to the guys on here as some of you have been a big help and probably wouldnt have this car to show for it if it werent for you. so BIG thanks! :)

also fitted head rests in the back as realised they have the tubes already welded in the seats so was pretty simple, just needed the plastic tubes and clips out of a set of front seats, will probably be mixed opinions about the look :) lol

I ave just recieved today the GAZ GHA that i ordered from the group buy :) so willget some more pics and fit them tomorrow also it is booked in with track and road on the 2nd of oct so we shall see what she produces with the restrictor in for low boost first.

Finally got the dimma down to track and road to be mapped, had it mapped to the smallest ristrictor for now even tho the compression ratio has been lowered for the high boost i just wanted to see what sort of horsepower it would put out. it did 244bhp which i was very happy with considering a gti6 at standard compression did 260bhp at low boost. so im going to leave it for a while just to make sure ive got no problems. Then look at increasing the boost, taking out the restrictor completely :) but even at 244 it is an animal to drive heres a vid link to the final power run :) was such a tense time. ENJOY!

I think I missed it if you said before, which ecu are you using?

will be interesting to see how this engine behaves compared to the gti6 with boost, not massively different I would imagine.

That looks awesome. Love the red stripe, particularly simple but great little touch. Best dimma i've seen in a long time.

My sentiments too, the best Dimma project the the drivers forum at the moment, attention to details like what you have done is a nice touch.

Black/Miami Dimma's look the best imo.

welshpug: i am running MBE management i think it will be interesting to see what it does without the retrictor, i have decided that il be keeping the front end as it is so no room for a larger intercooler, as i dont want it sticking out the front spoiling the look.

so im not expecting it to make the 400bhp but still it is seriously good fun to drive :)

i have just fitted some aero catches to the bonnet as the corners were lifting which was giving me a serious twitch lol looks real nice was a bit nerv racking tho jigsawring out the flimsy bonnet. will post up some photos later :)

wheels refurbish next :)

so took me 7 hours to get them apart!

3373_10152399856575366_637490071_n.jpg

then gave the backs a good clean and wet and dry to remove 27 years of corrosion, then took rims up to Bim to work hit magic and shine them up :)

Paint being removed a good few different layers lol

it appears the rears had never been polished  so Bim really had his work cut out
