[car_overhaul] 205 Dimma That Was Sat For 6 Years

Recommended Posts

jaggers12

hi all im new to the forum

ive never realy been into 205s but when i saw this little car i couldnt help but fall head over heels for it.

it was only by chance i spotted it, but after a bit of digging i managed to find out who the owner was and asked how much he wanted for it.

it took me and a few mates to move it from where it had sat for at least six years

so far after getting it into my garage i have removed the seats and carpet and cleaned them up, ive replaced the discs and pad and

have been very lucky as none of the calipers have sized.

next i have to get the fuel tank of and drain it also do the two front brake pipes along with the passenger rear.

Also it needs a hole welding in the passenger foot well.

The engin bay is errrmmm well not all the engin is there and its also missing some of the loom :( so im on the look out for both of these.

As for the wheels i was wondering if any one on here knows where i can get hold of a set of dimma wheels.

thanks for looking more pics to follow shortly

Very nice find. Looks like it's going to be a lot of work restoring, but such a rare car, well worth it.

Has been well scavenged by the looks of it :(

For the passenger door lock, many days of spraying penetrating oil and pushing from the inside is the best I can come up with, patience will be required I think.

good luck with the work on the dimma, i too found a factory dimma with a plate tucked away in a farm shed only 10 miles from my house! it was covered in hay and bird poo! it too had sat there for 6years or so.

After alot of work i got it going, but while on my search for dimma rims, i came across another factory dimma with the wheels, so i sold the first one i found....-keep checking ebay for rims, but expect to pay around £800 for a set. What you could do is just buy some deep dish ford rims which have the same pcd as they would be hell of alot cheaper!

keep us updated!

Apparently, Image wheels can make you a set, as they were one of the original makers..

Looks great, what a find at a bargain price! Doesn't look to have suffered too badly from the years of neglect!

it would be great to have the original ones.. could you not grab the original speedline that come with the 1.9 gti and have them altered so you could have a 3 peice rim..?

great find, hope it comes out grand and glorious.. =)
