Didnt plug the holes but ran a little oil through them after, Am changing the driveshaft seals tommorow so will take the diff casing off anyway to inspect.

Took the diff casing apart and found a few bits of debris so gave everything a thorough clean and re-assemble with gel gasket to stop any chance of a leak hopefully.

Old seal pushed out and casing cleaned.

Had the day off today so to fill the time i sanded and painted the roll cage in hammerite satin black.

After sanding, Dusty in pics but used plenty of panel wipe before paint.

Rear section after wipe.

P2110321.jpg

And painted up.

Managed some savage runs in places so the finish isn't concours but at least it is presentable and protected.

Well after alot of waiting for bits and to get extra funds together the engine was completed at 6pm yesterday and collected from Don Loughlin engineering. Had a right mare getting it out of the surprisingly deep boot of the polo daily runner :) . I am so pleased with the way it has turned out after 7 months of sourcing/researching parts for the build, porting the head and all the machining involved with the double springs, then having to get the new 1.6 pistons and liners aswell, but just looking at it i would say it was worth all the money and time!

Not long to go now, have provisionly set a date of easter weekend which is three weeks i think to drop it in the 309, just a few bits left:

1-Exhaust

2-Oil cooler kit

3-Filter

4-Throttle linkage

5-Bbm solid torque bush

6-Bbm quickshift.

7-Catch tank.

If anyone reading has any of these parts for sale drop me a p.m! :)

Had a small delivery from Aldons yesterday.

P3240499.jpg

The all important misab plates, which when offered up to the manifold highlights the fact that it needs more porting on the carb side in a few areas (anouther job to add to the list).

Went to wiltshire agin to see Daza4 and buy his alpha ignition ecu kit, wanted to go for coil pack but couldnt justify the money it would cost new so when i saw the kit for sale i snapped it up. After a chat with daz about installation it really doesnt seem that difficult to fit but we shall see when the time comes.

Got a small selection of new parts yesterday and today to speed along the build.

P4030499.jpg

Ngk Iridium hot running plugs, told they are two heat ranges higher than standard which is what was recommended to me.

P4030500.jpg

Oil pressure sensor.

P4030501.jpg

Getting very close to being ready to put it in the car now!
