  1. Just had my right-hand headlight fail on the MOT for an incorrect pattern. I assume it is incorrect as it's a LHD one instead of a RHD one. I had fitted it very recently, but bought it a couple of years ago. So after the MOT I ordered another one, making sure I ordered a RHD one this time. However, the latest one appears to be identical, so not going to solve the problem. I do have a very old headlight lying around with a broken body, and this one used to pass the MOT OK, so I thought I'd remove the lenses and compare them. In the photo the lens at the top is the 'new' one (the one that failed the MOT), and the bottom one is the old one that used to pass. The patterns are very different and I've highlighted the differences with the red lines. Can anyone confirm if the 'new' one is actually a LHD drive lens? It does appear to be a mirror image of the left-hand headlight, which I think is wrong as they should be assymetrical. So my plan is to stick the old lens to the new headlight body.
  2. I've just bought a RHS headlight from GSF and was all ready to fit it when I noticed it didn't look quite right. The photo shows my original Lucas on the left and the new Denji one on the right. You'll see the two main problems are the sidelight is on the opposite side of the body, and the ball-joint clip is round the wrong way (socket in the Lucas one faces away from you, whereas the Denji socket faces towards you). There's no way this going to fit in the car, so it'll need to be sent back. Anyone else experienced this from GSF and had any luck getting a suitable replacement?
  3. Hi All, Slightly strange electrical gremlins might be creeping in on my 205 (gti, 1.9, ph2 if it might help diagnose), that I hope you can help me with? I noticed yesterday that the instrument panel tell-tale light for dipped beam has stopped working. Switch sidelights on, no problem, lights work, as does the light on the dash. Click round further to dipped beam, and the headlights illuminate correctly, but not the tell-tale light on the dash. Is there just a little bulb in there which is replacable? Whether it's linked or not (possible bad earth), but for about 6 months, I've noticed that switching sidelights on does illuminate the dipped beam telltale on the dash a bit. Full/high beam, both dash light, and actual headlights, work as they should. Thanks in advance for your help, Cheers, Mark F
