is there any advantage/disadvantage to using a 1900 head and cam on a 1600?

the car is used for autocross and is going to be driven hard round a relatively short circuit

its run in the economy class ie pretty much standard

i know the heads are the same but the 1600 cam is shot and ive got a 1900 im breaking with a knackered bottom end

just want to know if it is likely to run ok or like a pile of c**p! :P:)

It'll run fine & I doubt you'll notice any difference between the two.

I fitted a 1.6 engine with a rebuilt head & a 1.9 cam in to a friends car & at first it felt slightly flatter before I fitted a vernier pulley because it wasn't timed 100% accurately.

Now there isn't very much difference imo when its all set up properly but that might be down to the head having been skimmed during the rebuild which made the vernier pulley necessary.

On an otherwise standard unskimmed head I doubt it'll be noticable.
