Can You Identify This Cable?

I have attached a picture of a cable (not entirely sure if it is electrical or vacuum) I found hanging down under my 205 GTI 1.6 car, it comes through the passenger side of the bulkhead. Can anyone tell me what it is and where it should go??

Brake pad thickness warning wire

as WP. think they clip to the ARB drop links (?)

 

the pad warning wires seem to fall out readily, so it's something you could do away with providing you keep a regular eye on the pads anyway

Not quite, they clip to a little holder that looks like a cable tie that is fastened around the damper body

 

You can see it above the brake hose in this picture;

I've just had the dampers changed, so that might explain it - they probably didn't put the clip back - will check!
