Mot Fail

Recommended Posts

This is annoying. just failed on a few little things, one of which was that when I put new gaiters on I used cable ties instead of metal clips. They're saying this isn't acceptable. Sure I've done this before and had no problems.

Any testers on here? :)

tell them that many aftermarket CV boots and steering rack gaiters are supplied with Cable ties, FAI springs to mind, so I cannot see how their argument stands.

if they are still being iffy on it I would speak to VOSA.

That's what I was just thinking! Annoying cos they've always been good before. Maybe it's just the bloke who did the test.

Cheers!

Im not a tester myself. But the testers at work pass tied boots.

As far as im aware, they just have to be on / secured and not split.

Exactly as above, it's not how they're secured or whether they're perished, just as long as they're not leaking.

I've seen the other topic about your harnesses. Tester sounds like a right prick!

Here's my suggestion:

1 - Book it in for re-test at the same place

2 - When they say it's no good as the same faults apply, ask to see the gaffer

3 - If the gaffer agrees with the tester, tell them they better be VERY confident in their decision

4 - Call VOSA and inform them of the problems
