Guest waterpug Posted November 4, 2008 Hl there all i am fairly new here i just bought a 91 1.6 205 gti ,a week after buying it the gearbox packed it in ,my question is a mate has a perfect s16 gearbox in his shed i no it will fit but will the 205 drives and cluthe do ,pasicly will it be a straight fit, thanks Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

pug_ham 240 3 Cars Posted November 5, 2008 It'll depend on the age of the S16 gearbox for if the clutch is push or pull operation, also the diff will need swapping for the 205 one for you driveshafts to fit (diff will need crown wheel swapping across from S16 diff to your original diff) & the gear selection arm will need changing to one for a 205.
