Cleaning Up My Calipers

Recommended Posts

NeilGTi85

Hello All,

I thought while I'm waiting for my parts to arrive I'd have a clean up of my front brakes and maybe give them a lick of paint ;)

First question is, am I going to have to re-bleed them if I remove the caliper? I proberbly will i'm sure :)

Is there just the 2 bolts holding the caliper on, on the GTi-6 brakes?

Also, is it easier to remove the calipers with the wheel's on?

Any pic's of the GTi-6 caliper would be great :)

Cheers,

Neil

yes

yes, though you'll fare off better when re-fitting if you remove the caliper itself from the carrier and remove the pads.

absolutely not ;) love to see you try though :)

haven't got any myself, they look like any other lucas/girling caliper TBH!

I painted mine on the car, removed the discs and pads, wire brush and coarse emery cloth, then masked up any areas I didn't want paint on.

:) Im sure I read on a post somewhere (searching for it now) that it was easier to undo the bolts holding the caliper on with the wheel on? Maybe I miss read it then :)

It looks like it'll be easier for me to leave the calipers on like you say.

Cheers,

Neil

Edit : This is why I got confused.. http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...amp;hl=removing ..it was a while ago I read that ;)
