Lots Of Vibration Through The Steering Wheel

Recommended Posts

djinuk

I have huge amounts of vibration through the steering wheel at aroudn 75/80 mph. The car has always been like it since ive owned it, but now i have a 330mm steering wheel its unbearable..

what could be the culprit. ?

When was the last time you had your wheel's balanced and tracked?

Agreed... a few quid spent at your local tyre centre should solve or at least point you in the right direction....

Yup, out of balance wheels would be where I'd start. You can try swapping the fronts and rears over to see if that improves matters.

As a general rule, any vibration that starts over around 60-70mph in a straight line is normally wheel balance. If it largely comes through the steering wheel, then it's probably the front wheels, whereas if you don't get much feedback through the steering wheel then it's probably the rears.

I had a similar fault, it turned out to be a worn TRE.
