Changing Track Rod / Rack Rod / Tie Rod

Recommended Posts

jamiej

Hiya,

i need to change my track rod as my monkey mechanic has fused together my track rod end into my current track rod, and the tracking is waaay out.

So, im going to buy a new track rod and end from GSF/ECP, can anyone lend a hand on exactly how to do this job.

Is it easy/straight forward, are they normally nice and herculean tight.

Any tips/tricks/step by steps very welcome.

Thanks

Jamie

Oh, ok, so i guess to change an engine i just "use a spanner" ? LOL

no, on a serious note, do i just need to take the rod end off the hub and then wind the arm out, how do i get that lock washer off.

thanks

Jamie

BuD

Get the tre out of the hub, unclip the gaiter on the rack and slide it down the track rod, this will reveal a ball joint On the end of the track rod. Unscrew this with stilsons wrench to remove the whole track rod.
