Yellow Driving Lights

Drove in the dark for the first time using my yellow driving lights - bloody weird! any other experiences with these? Not sure I like them now

What do you mean weird? I was thinking of going Yellow on mine, I must admit it mainly for looks, I will follow with interest....

A large, eerie yellow glow - but I still have 140W bulbs in...... If Paul's not noticed much difference I'll put some 55Ws back

when I was in Eastbourne 20 years ago, you (british) used to have yellow streetlights. Now, that was weird, as all colours changed so hard in that light, that you hardly could tell a blue from a green car.

 

I thought you british might be used to the "yellow light penomenon" or is this past tense?

Mine have a strange eerie glow. They are clear lensed with the yellow reflector, but with the shield over the bulb as per foglights. 55w bulbs just in case I need them as fogs, as they are double wired to be fogs and driving lights.

We still have those street lights - you should see a red car with re - sprayed panels under one Gives an idea of how yellow this glow is , I was driving in those lights!!! I actually have yellow glass Seim driving light lenses, so no shroud either. I'll report back when I have sensible bulbs

im looking into getting these. seen the ones on ebay but not so sure on them. where else can they be brought?

He He not "quite" legal for road use. Absolutely brilliant on the lanes, though. But you can get a "who turned out the lights?" effect for a split second when dipping, and dazzled by some road signs...... Recommended to upgrade the wiring with them, although this is the 3rd car I've run them in - yes 8yrs+ from 1 set with no probs on standard wiring - oh, and they highlight charging problems early, too switching the stereo off for a split second when putting on high beam if your charging circuit is not 100%

 

I reckon 100W would be better all rounders. I did once try them alongside 80/100 main bulbs, but 80W dip was obviously upsetting oncoming vehicles

When they were fitting yellow fogs and when "normal" white ones ?? I've notice that it's popular in Griffe and Laser Green version.

i tried yellow driving lamps (clear reflectors + very yellow lenses) too, and found it a bit weird.

it surely looks cool for a while, but later annoyed me because the main headlights are still white, which results in an irritating combination of overlapping white and yellow beams of different shape.

 

besides that, yellow lights are illegal in my country, except for fog lamps.

servicebox shows yellow driving lights as being part of Phase 1. there are ones with yellow reflectors and clear lenses, and vice-versa.

i'm not sure about yellow fog lights, they could have been gone into phase 2 as well, i dont remember. these exist both as SIEM and Cibié.

 

apparently, you can still get SIEM driving lights with yellow reflectors and clear lenses from peugeot if you're lucky, but they will be illegal in most countries.

I had some Denji ones years ago and found them to be really bad quality

yea, i had choice between yellow lenses, or just yellow reflectors, i opted for the yellow reflectors as i cant help but see full yellow glass as looking dirty

The Denji lamps usually crumble away within 18 months and get condensation in, and I always think the bulb holding springs are crude.

 

Siem fogs are still available from the dealers, think the part no is 6205 75 (£46 each I recall) for my type which are yellow reflector and clear lense. I think Peugeot made the lights in all the possibilities, as Steve has yellow lensed drivig lamps, I have as above, but also have same, but with frosted lnses on, so the world is your oyster.

I've just noticed a crack on mines , they old and rusty inside and outside so no surprises. It's great that they still have those SIEM lights .
