Peugeot 205 Gt Pas Options?

Recommended Posts

Marlon

Hi,

I have a 205GT now and am curious as to how difficult fitting PAS to it would be? Has anyone done this? Its either this or shove it on ebay with an MOT and buy something else with PAS.

you will need a pass rack first and foremost

then a power steering pump

i'm gti6ing mine and getting rid of the belt driven ps pump

then i'm fitting an electric one from a saxo/106 (i think its off one of those anyway)

so if you can get an electric one you only need to source a pas rack

Have a look on the later 306/zx models etc, They use the TU engine so may have some useful parts

You could fit electric power steering off a corsa.

You also need the lower section of the steering column. The PAS pinion is higher, thus the column is shorter.

The 306 IIRC mounts the alternator on the back of the engine, which might make it tricky. A 106 electric pump could be a solution.

Hmmmm, I have rashly assumed that Brolly is replying to the previous post - ie, that he/she is interested in fitting electric power steering off a corsa. But of course, he/she could be replying to the original post - ie, interested in putting PAS into a 205GT. If the latter, then EPS from a Corsa can't be recommended due to the degree of difficulty compared to a hydraulic PAS rack with either belt driven or electro-hydraulic pump. The processes for fitting hydraulic or electro-hydraulic PAS is detailed in 2 articles in the 205GTIdrivers.com Articles section.
