Engine Dies On Full Throttle

Recommended Posts

Found this weekend that when you stamp on the throttle the engine stutters, and if you hold it it will dies completely. If you put the choke on then this won't happen. It's running a Pipercross filter.

Any ideas?

Clean out the emulsion tubes, usually gets blocked its comoon, take the filter off, look down the carb and will see to screw headed tubes, undo them, get a cocktail stick poke inside too lift them out, then clean them out with a airline :)

Thanks, will give it a try.

I was guessing that it would be something to do with the second choke as it seems to be when that opens that it dies.

I wondered whether it could be the opposite... ie running too lean because of the air filter (although it's had a bigger main jet), and the choke corrects it.

Will do a bit of experimentation.

Ran both pipercross and K&N without the bigger jet and never had problems.

Sounds like it's probably gunk in the carb then, not getting fuel through. Will take the emulsion tube out and give it a blast with the compressor.

Needs some experimentation.

If I could make it to Wales, I would come and see, but its a bit far for me...

If push comes to shove, what about the spare carb from the XS?

Epynt is a bit out of the way for most people, just so happens that my dad grew up rallying around there

Push comes to shove I'll have to try the other carb but I don't think it can be anything serious.

I took it all apart etc, cleaned everything, put it back together and it was still doing it :/

But then on the day it cleared up during the convoy run! So we're all sorted <_<
