You're right that picture does make it look odd! From the second set it looks like you have more than enough clearance. Looks good mate, glad its still coming along nicely, its always a pain when projects stall due to time/money.

I think its called foreshortening. The flaw of cameras! Thanks for the pictures.

Pity I cannot get through to AB motorsport as they never answer the phone lol

I thought you said you read it all...lol

Its a brand new touring car engine which has full steel internals.

an ultra light weight crank which costs £4500 + vat

Im not being an optimist as anybody would expect 275bhp for a £12k engine

how did i miss that :D

i would definitly expect that figure for that money.

nice one

that third cylinder is conveniently mounted.. i imagined it would need mounting further over to the left, is the linkage complicated?

just read all of this post.

i earn that sort of money and i dont pay 1k mortgage, and yet i couldn't spend that sort of money on my pug (would like to).

i take it you aint married with kids?

No offense to GTI6BOY, but he must either live the life of a monk, or he's managed to find himself some rich old tart :D I just can't get my head around it. I'm on similar money, my rent and massive loan repayments don't quite come to 1k a month, don't smoke, barely drink, don't have kids, hell, don't do much really! So I dunno where my money goes but I sure as hell can't afford to indulge my love of 205's to the same level.

Sorry for talking about money. It's a filthy subject and I'm sure one that GTI6BOY has no interest in speaking about. But when you see projects like these you can't help but be curious about the people spending the money :D

That reminds me, I must check my lotto tickets

maybe he saved up :P

have you ever looked at what you spend your cash on?

Due to doing self employed I have got my expenses to under £200 a month, plus my mortgage.

I still can't afford a £12k engine lol

This build is awesome, im waiting patiently to see how your car runs up the strip. You likely to go up santapod before USC for a few practise runs?

You shouldn't have to defend yourself anyway. What does it matter how you pay for things... i can't believe people ask those questions. At the end of the day, even a huge spec 205 built over time will cost less than the average repayments on something new.

The car looks great anyway. I have always really liked the clean lines of the base model shells, and i've always wanted to do something with one. What is the intended application once it is finished? It is more 1/4 mile than track? Or did i see somewhere that it goes on the road too?

Quite right, he doesn't need to defend himself! You can't help some people (such as myself) being curious though, it's only human! Probably a little bit of envy if I'm totally honest.

But fair play to GTI6BOY, it's a good build, and I've taken a keen interest in his other projects too. I'd hate for him to be so offended by such questions about his income that he decided not to bother sharing his progress in future, but nobody is holding a gun to his head demanding to know his financial status, and it's his choice if he wants to answer such questions. They were only asked in a light hearted way

I know... it wasn't directed at you. I just remember reading a similar thing in another one of his project threads... I think he should be applauded rather than interogated. At the end of the day, few 205s are built to this standard. I just don't think talk of money is relevant

Love this project so much I love the fact that to the un-trained eye it looks like any old uk spec rallye really...I went up Prescott in it when it had the old GTi-6 lump in and it was a flying machine so with all the new bits its gonna be MENTAL!!! Nick mate this and the Dimma your building are some of the nicest cars ive ever seen! Can't wait to see um both finished.

Hope you don't mind Nick. Here is an old vid I found going up Prescott in Nick's Rallye with the old GTi-6 lump. It doesnt give the sense of speed you get from being in the car...trust me it feels a lot faster! Enjoy...

The exhaust is stunning. What do Maniflow charge for from the manifold back?

Well this thread has really impressed me to another level.

I seen the car in its old state at presscot in 07 or 08 ? Can't remember ?

Any way it doesn't matter what budget gti6 boy built the car on, and after some critiism you know your self that you don't need anyone to tell you that you have in no doubt built a VERY special car.

Awsome.
