Very Urgent Clutch Cable Help Needed

Recommended Posts

GTI6BOY

Trying to change my clutch cable but something is wrong?

I have a xsara vts box and an early style clutch pedal.

my new cable has an identical end which goes to the pedal

shown here

my new cable is 100mm shorter than my old one but still clips to the subframe

now the new end has a d shape plastic clip which does not fit in the clutch release arm, so i have had to remove it, but you run out of thread and the pedal is still flat on the floor?

the old cable

i have just had another look at the photos and it looks like you have a push clutch set up and the cabel you have is for a pull clutch. have you tried putting all the rubbers off the old cabel on to the new cabel that may work

Is that a BE1 or BE3 cable? which ever one it is you need the other as it is longer, Easier to fit the correct clutch next time around as it saves all this hassle

funny you should say that as i have just seen on service box and the be1 cable looks like it would fit?

the clutch has been in the car since i purchased the engine about 4 years ago

new cable you have is BE3 push type, old cable looks to be BE1 push type.

IIRC there are 2 types of BE1 cables, where the bulkhead end fitting is like BE3.
